Rhum Distillery, Maho Beach and Lunch

This tour was absolutely best! It was so interesting and fun. There staff there was great. They loved what they were doing and made you feel like part of the family. You should absolutely take this your!

The Toppers Rhum Distillery tour was phenomenal. It was informational and the tastings were done in the context of showing us the specialties of the distillery. There was even food preparation using one of the rhum products. After the tour, we had an included bbq lunch at the restaurant attached to the distillery. The food was excellent and the views were great. The beach was beautiful, but wall-to-wall people, literally. The beach is at the end of the runway for St. Maarten's airport. If you want to see airplanes taking off and landing, that's the place. We ended up taking a taxi back to the ship instead of waiting for the ride that was included with our tour.

Had a great tour of a very small production rum distillery run by an interesting family from Boston. SO many flavors of rum - and we sampled a TON of them on the tour. They also sold gelato and made it really easy to purchase bottles there and take back to the cruise. It was nice that it came with lunch and transportation. The airplane beach was great too and just the right amount of time there.

Our tour guide was fantastic, extremely knowledgeable and quite a sense of humor. The rum tour was very cool, very interactive & obviously delicious! The lunch we got at Topper's restaurant was fantastic, sooooo good (sauces made with rums)! Maho beach is mind blowing, a must see! Only downfall on this day (and absolutely no fault of the tour operator) was the downtown draw bridge in Simpson Bay, which, when lifted to allow sailboats to enter the harbor, backed traffic up for a long time. As a result, we only had less than 30 minutes at Maho, and then we ran into the draw bridge again which delayed us getting back to downtown Philipsburg. But wadda ya do!! It was still a great day overall. So much history and the people are fantastic

A great excursion. Fun at Toppers tasting all the flavoured rums, excellent presentation and tour. Lunch was a choice of barbecue chicken leg or ribs. Both were excellent. Nice eating area overlooking a marina. Maho Beach watching the planes come in is something everyone should do. Everything was perfect about this excursion.

The tour was excellent! The driver was friendly and knowledgeable, and the Rhum Distillery tour was fantastic! We were engaged throughout and were given a good amount of time to browse and shop for liquid souvenirs. The lunch and drinks were delicious and we all loved the stop at Maho Beach for the Close Encounters! Bravo!

Your St Maarten tour was one of the best excursions I’ve taken on any cruise. All the guides and drivers were great. Our first driver took us on a guided tour of sights around the island, then dropped us off at the Toppers Rhum distillery, which was a blast. The young lady who was our guide at the distillery was very informative and fun. We tasted lots of their varied rum products, participated in a cooking demonstration using their rums, and learned about the history of rum in the Caribbean. And the lunch was really tasty, featuring local cuisine. Next stop was Maho Beach where we spent a couple of hours watching the jet planes swoop in low over the beach to land at the adjacent airport runway. There were plenty of beach chairs at Maho and a bar so you could have a drink delivered to your chair. When it was time to go, our driver met us promptly in front of the beach to take us back to the ship. If you’re visiting St Maarten on a cruise, this is the excursion for you.

Toppers was 11/10 great tour and great tastings! Facility was very nice and the flavours were amazing. Personally met the owner Mr topper who was very nice and personable will definitely be going back in the future!

Our tour guide at the Rhum Distillery was so friendly and very informative and the lunch was delicious. Maho Beach made it a perfect day. Would definitely book this excursion again.

At Topper's you will be greeted with rhum punch and taken into a classroom to learn all about Topper's history. Then you will move into the kitchen to try various rhum flavored items such as chicken, rhum cake and gelato. The rhum cake is to die for! Next is the bottling area to learn more about Topper's process. The last stop is the rhum machine which holds a ridiculous amount of different flavors and you will be able to try every one of them. Once your belly is full of rhum you will get to enjoy a harbor-side lunch with more rhum punch. Choose the ribs! Afterwards you can do a little shopping for rhum or other merchandise. Your final stop will be Maho beach. You will dropped off near the beach and given a few hours to bar hop, swim, or just watch the planes. If you decide to bar hop make sure you have cash on hand as they do not accept card and the nearest ATM is in the Casino and is quite the hike to get there. A set time will be given for pickup.

This excursion was well-organized, friendly, informative and fun. I was surprised that I was the only person on my bus who opted for the Rhum Distillery, but it worked out very well. Since I was the only guest, I had a private tour. Topper's Rhum is an excellent facility that offers you many tastings of their rum, and the opportunity to watch and participate in cooking and the bottling. There is also a gelato store and gift shop with a large selection. Distillery staff is helpful and friendly. My tour drivers were courteous, friendly and accommodating. There was only one situation that could be improved, and that was the directions at the port to meet the tour. Other guests had real difficulties finding the bus.

11/2021 We enjoyed our time at the Rum Distillery and walked through the complete process. Lunch was provided in their air-conditioned restaurant where we enjoyed our Rum favorites and unrestricted views of the bay. I am a GA pilot so Maho Beach was a destination. We had a blast watching various commercial aircraft line up on final and drop in above the crowds. Drinks were fair priced at the open air bars located on either end of the beach. Visit both bars and take advantage of their unique views. Plan to stay for an hour or so and maybe one of the big boys will drop in on your watch? Don’t forget to take a selfie with the Warning/Danger sign

My wife and I chose this tour for several reasons, and were not disappointed, since it "delivered" on all expectations. We were a little confused about the transportation, since we started out on a bus with about 20 people, but not all of us were going on the same tour. However, "our" tour hit all of the spots that we expected, and we had a great time at each spot. We maybe drank more rum than we should have during the course of the day, but we didn't have to drive home (so that was OK). Great fun, great food, and friendly folks at the distillery and the restaurant (I even got to meet "Topper" himself -- great guy!). Maho Beach is one of my favorite places in the world!
