Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle

Tour of Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle
September 28, 2023
We wanted to see both Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle and the best and easiest way was with a tour guide/transportation. He provided excellent narration of what we were seeing on the drive and what we would see once we arrived (they weren’t allowed inside). We’d never been to London but the train (to catch the bus) was very easy and the directions were on point—but don’t be afraid to ask for clarification, the people on the street were all helpful to keep us pointed in the right direction. We did a Big Red Bus tour when we arrived and got an overview of London which was fun, informative and helpful.

Very Popular Tour

We did Windsor Castle in the morning and got to Buckingham Palace in the mid-afternoon of our last full day in London. The scene at Victoria Coach Station in the morning (~8 AM) was rather chaotic (they needed someone to Take Charge!), but, once on the coach, things settled down. The entry line at Windsor Castle was long, as you might expect, but we achieved entry fairly quickly and then headed straight for the State Apartments, which were exquisite. Barely enough time to give them justice, then visited St. George's Chapel, and on to Buckingham Palace (HM was up in Scotland) where we (Ann, especially) enjoyed the wardrobe displays from through the Queen's entire reign. Very impressive!
