From the moment we were picked up, we immediately clicked with our guide. Our walk was very interesting, with surprises around every corner. If you enjoy wildlife, this is a must do tour!

Enjoyed the walk very much. I would have liked an info card to identify the types of birds that we could hear but could not see.

The Russel Nature walk through the forest was brilliant. We were greeted by some native WEKA chicks. We learnt about the nesting boxes used by the KIWI bird. Saw a short video about the first recorded birth and first days of a KIWI chick. We walked through the bush, past various stands of native trees and swamp as the environment changed. We saw the WETA insect, the largest in New Zealand. Numerous birds flitered around us and we observed them at one point for several minutes. We picked KAWKAWA leaves and made a beautiful tea to drink. Groups are kept small in numbers. Fantastic afternoon had by the guests. Definitely go again if in the area. Next time will try the evening excursion.

Fantastic Walk

This walk was an excellent excursion when we visited the beautiful Bay of Islands. Russell is such a lovely seaside village. Definitely nicer than Paihia where most people go. A definite must do! Thanks Lisette for showing us your unique plants, insects, and birds.
