Helsinki Nature Tour by Kayak

The place where we kayaked was peaceful and calm. I would have liked to have seen us kayak than at a leisurely pace; we could have covered more ground. Lunch was good. Instructor was nice.

What a refreshing break from old towns, grand castles and majestic churches! Not that there is anything wrong with those. We just opted to experience a different side of Finland - the natural side. Kayaking on the Baltic was enjoyable, the scenery was beautiful and our transplanted Italian guide, Matteo, was very informative. For example, Baltic Sea temperature fluctuates more widely than other seas and oceans because of its low salinity, shallow depth and extremes of long days and nights. So it was 72F in July, warmer than the Pacific in our home of Southern California, and is frozen solid in winer.
