Old and New Istanbul Walking Tour

Our family of three took this walking tour with another couple and our young, amazing guide. We went insdie mosques, took the local transit, had tea, went to the bazaar, went to the local spice market and tried foods and ended up purchasing dates, apriciots and pistachios along with spcies.. We were informed about the wonders of Instanbul. This tour was so much better than being with 40 t0 50 people in a bus where you don't get the feel of a city. I am 63, but in decent shape. You don't need to be an athlete to take this tour, but you should be able to walk a total of 5 to 6 miles over the course of a 7 hour period. Our guide had to actually carry guests in the past as they could not walk, so make sure you can at least walk off and on around 17000 to 20,000 steps on your smartphone. We took 10 touirs with shore excursions group and this was by far one of the best!

We were fortunate to have 1 1/2 days in Istanbul when our boat docked, so this time allowed us to do this tour in addition to the all day (main sights) one. This tour was very economical, and we felt like we got a lot for our money. It does require a lot of walking, so be prepared for that. I felt like it was a good introduction to the sights, sounds, and smells of Turkey as we were there on a Saturday evening while many Turks were on holiday. We enjoyed sampling the Turkish hamburger and coffee.

This was my favorite excursion in 7 days. We booked a small group tour and it was just the guide myself and my daughter. She totally geared it to what we wanted to do, stayed with us longer than she needed. She was amazing. I would book this tour over all the others. Plan to walk all over the city but you felt like you lived there!

This tour was a great complement to the more traditional full day tour of Istanbul we had on our first day there. The guide was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed the opportunity to spend a few hours seeing things beyond the major sites and try some local flavors.

This tour was better than the full day tour we took the following day that cost $500.00. Guide was excellent, gave us a history of the city and sites we visited. This is a walking tour and if you can't walk distances do not do this tour. We walked for most of the 4 hours.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. We had a very different tour from those offered on the ship, seeing old town, visiting local cafes, and seeing more of the local areas.
