A Taste of the Dominican Republic

This was a wonderful small sized group tour. The guide was knowledgeable about the countryside and the tour content. Our first stop was to a fruit roadside fruit stand. We were given the opportunity to taste the fruit. Next stop was to a local chocolate factory, established and operated by local women. The cocoa was grown and processed on site. We also stopped at a cigar making centre. Rum was also for sale as well as local more unusual crafts. We then went to a local restaurant where we picked out our own fish. Our last point of interest was a local gathering area where concerts, etc. were played by local groups. I would recommend taking a taxi to the tour guides from the Amber Cove parking area. It cost us $5. All private tours are prohibited on Amber Cove port facilities. This is an excellent tour that was enjoyed by everyone in our little group.

Definitely a must excursion

I enjoyed to tour. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and answered every question we had, sometimes before we could ask. The beach was nice. It was not filled with people so we enjoyed walking the shore. We even saw a local fisherman catch octopus very close to the shore. I would definitely recommend this excursion.
