ATV Dominican Adventure
Start this great adventure by meeting with your friendly, local guide just outside your Amber Cove, Puerto Plata cruise ship pier area. Climb aboard the comfortable transportation for a short, 2-minute ride to the ATV base camp.
The base is located at a private, local ranch complete with picturesque lush, tropical vegetation, fun trails, and small streams. Once you've arrive, you will be matched up with a Honda 420cc 4X4 ATV. You will be given brief safety instructions, but these are very simple to drive. In fact, beginners are welcome and there's no license required to drive. Once you're on your ATV and strap on your helmet (mandatory), it's time to follow your guide through the ranch, past little houses and farms where you will see the authentic countryside.
Drive your ATV on various terrains including two beaches and through the ever-changing countryside. You will ride for approximately 15 minutes to Teco's Beach, make a stop for a quick dip in the ocean if you wish or simply enjoy the view and a refreshment.
Next, make your way to another ranch where you can stop and shop for souvenirs such as cigars, cacao, and coffee. Take the opportunity to taste samples of the variety of goods before deciding what you like the best, approximate time spent here will be 15 minutes.
Then you're off riding once again to Guzmansito Beach, approximately 10 minutes away, where you will get a chance to ride along the beach and enjoy the views. This is a pristine, secluded beach where you can stop for more refreshments and some photos.
Make an optional stop at Martin's gift shop where guests can see local handicrafts, stones from the Dominican mines, local clothing and more.
Your ATV excursion ends with a 20-minute drive back to the ranch base and then your guide will escort you back to the cruise ship terminal.
Total ATV riding time is approximately 2.5 hours.

Machines have some age, but the owner assigned a competent mechanic to operate the motors and we were rolling all of the time. There was flexibility in the leader's attitude to allow "Hot Dogging" and I liked that fun. For me, at age 74, a three hour tour was very much enough time in the saddle. Sore the next day, but what a nice ride. Would do it again !!!! BTW, another couple rider (two people on one machine) told me that they wished they had got one machine for each. Second person was cramped.

This ATV ride was awesome. We had a long ride and even went out on the beach. Although I would have liked to be able to go on some “trails” instead of just roads because I’m an experienced rider, I understand that not everyone could not do that. Bart gave us an enjoyable ride. We saw an area where Jurassic Park was filmed, a beautiful beach, and some beautiful countryside of the Dominican Republic. We had several rest stops & picture stops along the way. I would definitely recommend this excursion.

This was a great excursion for our whole family. Price was per atv not per person (5 of us) compared to cruise ones. The staff was great, picked on time, did test drives with everyone and guides were very helpful and safety conscious. The places we saw; beach, Jurassic Park filming location, cigar, chocolate and coffee making along with holding parrot and turtle made this one better than expected.
