Blue Cave Adventure

Your Boka Bay tour begins at the city park, near the seaport of Kotor. There’s a friendly captain who will await you and make sure you’re seated safely and comfortably for what’s planned to be an enthralling cruise around the Boka Bay.

Your first stop is at an islet in the middle of Boka Bay, which holds the name of the church that’s settled on it: Our Lady of the Rocks. There are many legends that speak of the phenomenon, but the most accepted one talks about the discovery of an icon of the Holy Mother of God with Christ by seamen. In remembrance of this occurrence, local fishermen promised to throw rocks at the same spot where the Lady had been found, thus expanding the surface of the space and creating a charming artificial islet, where visitors can witness the church that’s been built in Her honor. The inside of the church dates back from the 15th century and stores countless Baroque paintings (from Montenegrin, as well as Italian artists) votive tablets and tapestry. Outside the church is a small gift shop, where you can get something that will remind you of this great visit.

After Our Lady of the Rocks, your journey continues from the Bay of Kotor to Tivat Bay where you'll pass by the exclusive marina for mega yachts: Porto Montenegro, a place that’s jam-packed with sailing boats, racers, sailboats, cruisers, luxurious yachts, and makes for a cool spot for photos.

Next is Herceg Novi Bay, a coastal town settled at the entrance of Boka Bay, rich with culture and especially known for its Byzantine and eastern architectural styles. Your cruise will also lead you to the infamous island Mamula, which was once a concentration camp in World War II. The sight of it will both curdle your blood while also blowing you away with its abundance in natural beauty and rich history. But there's even more in store with a visit to the ex-submarine military base.

To conclude the trip, your captain will take you to the Blue Cave, an ideal spot for a refreshing dip in the mesmerizing nuances of its blue surroundings. This place, accessible only by boat, is renowned for its crystal-clear water, the cave that envelops its blue waters, and the serenity of its natural setting.

Swimming in the Blue Cave

Great experience, terrific, experienced guide! The submarine caves (where our guide played the James Bond soundtrack!), the Blue Cave, snorkeling, learning about the history of the area and even the geo-political dynamics was very interesting. Well worth our time!

Beautiful Cave

We really enjoyed the excursion. There was an unexpected side trip to a tunnel where submarines were hidden during WWII. Very interesting. Really enjoyed seeing that. The Blue Cave was a fun experience. The water was warm and the blue glow of the cave water is quite unique, quite beautiful. Made for wonderful snorkeling. My only criticism is that too much time was spent at the little church Our Lady of the Rocks. Because no tour/explanation of the church is included, it could be a 20 min stop....not 45 min...though that was our only opportunity to use a restroom on the tour.

Blue Cave Adventure

A fun afternoon on a nice day. Please note the word "Adventure" in the excursion title. The trip consisted of several high speed dashes in an open center-console outboard-motor boat (think wind and saltwater spray). The high speed was necessary because of the distances covered - the Blue Cave is on the Adriatic, outside Kotor Bay.
