South Island Electric Bike
Explore Bonaire in an easy way while getting a little exercise too. Get up close and personal with this beautiful island when you ride through and explore the south side, one of the most beautiful parts to see. On an electric bike you can exercise without getting completely exhausted. Your bike will help you go around the island while you view amazing sights with a guide who will lead you to numerous sights for you to discover with stops to take pictures and to rest.
Your tour will start right from the pier where we will prepare your bike to fit your needs. All participants are given a helmet and a bottle of water. Once you are comfortable on your bike you will start your electric bike tour heading south. You will start on a very safe road towards Plaza Beach Resort and then head to Flamingo Airport, the beautiful pink airport of Bonaire, then continue south and pass Belnem, the emblematic neighborhood once owned by Harry Bellafonte.
Your first stop will be at the salt pier where you are given some information about the salt process, and you will have the chance to take some amazing pictures at the color contrast of the turquoise Caribbean Sea and the pink water of the salt pans.
After you are refreshed, continue further south to the white slave huts. Make another stop to learn about the history that surrounds these little houses and about the weekly migration of the slaves. A little further ahead you will also get to see the red slave huts and after passing them you will make a third stop at one of the 5 lighthouses of Bonaire. Willemstoren lighthouse was completely renovated in 2012 and it is located at the southern end of Bonaire.
After the lighthouse stop, continue to see one of the most famous spots of Bonaire, Sorobon. Stop at the beach hut beach bar and enjoy a complimentary drink while taking in the views of Bonaire's world famous windsurfers doing their impossible pirouettes in the air. After about 15 minutes of relaxing begin your way back to Kralendijk through the mangrove area. Because the bikes are silent there are great chances to spot flamingos along the way, if you are lucky to see some you can stop for pictures from a safe distance as not to disturb them.
Please Note: Your tour includes your electric bike, bottled water and 1 complimentary drink at The Beach Hut.

Easy directions to find. Had a small group, nice compared to large group excursion chaos. Helpful tour guide with bike use. Some rough road conditions(my son accidentally veered off and wrecked, but the guide was quickly attentive, no injuries)some areas were tight with passing cars, but only a few times, overall pretty easy ride. Due to wind, very common, we did the tour in reverse. Was about 22 miles, but you'd never know it. We saw goats, donkeys, flamingos and wind surfers. Learned about mangroves, slave history and salt lake/production as well as seeing these areas. To get the bikes.. a short walk to tour guides vehicles, where we split into 2 cars for a short ride. Upon return, we dropped the bikes off at the tour guides rental property and he drove us all back in his pick up to the ship. We had 3 adults, a 16 yr old and 12 yr old over Christmas vacation and we all loved it. Definitely beats riding around in a bus! Remember your sunscreen and a camera!

My daughter and I loved this tour! Great exercise and awesome scenery! Our guide Sam was super nice and did a great job. He explained the history of the Island and was very concerned about everyone. Unfortunately we had a couple of people that didn’t respect the bikes and just tossed them down on the ground with no respect. He was very patient and professional. Good for you Sam. Highly recommend this tour!

Very much enjoyed the combination of exercise when desired and electric assist especially when going into wind. Scenery was stunning and guide very insightful at various points of tour. Highly recommend this tour to avoid crowds, get some exercise (or coast along on electric power), and see amazing sights while learning some of the history of the island.

The electric assist bicycle was a great way to see the island. We had done a bus tour on a previous trip, so this was a completely different perspective. Our guide was very knowledgeable with a good sense of humor and he shared some behind the scenes places one would never see on another tour.
