Dolphin Encounter and Turtle Farm
Dolphin Encounter and Turtle Farm
This up-close-and-personal Dolphin Encounter takes you onto a platform in waist-deep water to meet these incredible creatures...and for them to meet you!
After an approximately 30-minute orientation with the instructors/trainers, you will step onto a special platform that will cover half of your body in water. From this shallow position, you will take turns meeting your new friend who will give you unlimited love, a handshake, and perhaps a little song and dance. You will be able to pet the dolphins and exchange looks.
It doesn't matter if you're 1 or 80 years old, you will enjoy this experience with your new friend. As groups are limited to only 20 members, it is important that you book this Grand Cayman excursion early to avoid disappointment. The dolphin segment is approximately 30 minutes. Professional photographers will be on hand taking pictures.
After your dolphin encounter, continue your Grand Cayman tour with your included admission to the Turtle Farm, one of Grand Cayman's greatest tourist attractions, known around the world for its conservation programs, public awareness and entertainment. The farm includes over 500 turtles separated in tanks that show the progressive stages as they age. You will learn about turtle gender, reproduction, and the programs to keep them from becoming extinct. There is also a touch tank and many opportunities for photos of the turtles. The farm is located adjacent to the Dolphin Encounter.
Your excursion fee also entitles you to a discounted admission ($20 US per person) to the Boatswain's Beach Park. Here, you will find two swimming lagoons, a nature trail with a small cave system, Predator's Reef with sharks, groupers and eels, a lagoon for a snorkeling experience, and an aviary with Cayman and Caribbean birds flying freely in an enclosed setting. Don't miss Cayman Street, with traditional buildings featuring distinctive, locally designed porches, doorways, gardens and local artisans, as well as restaurants and gift shops. There is certainly enough to make this a full day of fun for all ages.
In order to allow you to tour at your own speed at the Turtle Farm and/or the park, fees for the taxi to and from the Dolphin Park are not included in the tour price. This gives you the ability to return at your leisure. Just make sure to return before your ship's last tender time from shore.
There is no cost for observers for the dolphin portion only and no need to pre-reserve; you simply pay for transportation to and from the Dolphin Park. Observers must pay to visit the turtle farm or Boatswains Park. The facility has lockers, changing rooms, freshwater showers, and a snack bar.
Infants (under 6 years old) may attend the tour free of charge with advanced notice at the time of booking if they are accompanied by 2 participating adults (18 years or older). Children 3 feet 11 inches and shorter must be accompanied by one participating adult (18 years or older) per child. Children (12 and under) over 4 feet tall must have an adult present (participating or observing) at the dolphin facility. If any children are participating on their own (without at least 1 adult per child), they must be counted as an adult at booking.
Pregnant women may not participate in this tour. You do not need to be a swimmer to participate in this program. All participants are required to wear a life jacket. Sunblock, jewelry, watches, rings, bracelets, or any object which might scratch the dolphin is not permitted in the water with the dolphins. The instructors have the final say on what can and cannot be worn in the water with the dolphins. For security reasons, personal cameras are not allowed in the water, nor in the program area. A professional photographer will be on hand to take pictures, which will be available for purchase.

We had a wonderful afternoon swimming with the dolphins then walking through the turtle farm. We caught a cab at the port ($8/person) and went there about two hours before our scheduled time of 1pm. The dolphin place let us join an earlier group, this helped us relax and not feel rushed to get back to the ship. The dolphin swim was great and I ended up liking it more than I expected. The staff was patient and helped everyone feel at ease and they handled the dolphins with total confidence. The picture package was too expensive so we didn’t buy anything. The turtle farm was amazing. I wish we had been able to spend more time there, I would like to go back some day. We caught a ride on a public bus ($2.50/person). It took us through residential areas and it felt very safe, but it took a little longer to get back to the port than a cab would have. Overall it was a wonderful afternoon and we had no problems on our excursion.

The public transportation was used to our surprised and was a pleasant surprise on getting to and from our destination. The farm and experience is well worth the time and travel. Staff very organized!!

We went out before our assigned time which gave us plenty of time to explore the turtle farm - they have a small beach and swiming area. The swim with the dolphins was amazing! Our 4 year old was a bit nervous at first, but the staff was great with her and she had a blast. Check at the terminal before you hire a taxi, there's a bus that runs out there for a fraction of what a cab will charge.

This was a great excursion! We were a party of three and they made it worthwhile. Very knowledgeable about the dolphins. It was so much fun.

We had four adults in our group so we were placed in a group with no children - which was good for us because our activities were geared more to adults. It was a lot of fun and well worth the time. Only recommendation I have would be to work with the vendor to make the pictures more affordable and available.
