Meet your local, professionally trained guide after your arrival to Crete and start your adventure by crossing the famous Theriso Gorge, an area where some of the most important battles of the Cretan Revolution happened. Your 4x4 vehicle comfortably seats six guests with all forward-facing views.

A stop on the way will allow for a panoramic and scenic lookout point where you can take incredible pictures as you begin to get in touch with the Cretan nature and learn her history. Continuing uphill, enjoy the rough and rugged beauty of the mountains of the island and spot the local wildlife, the sheep and goats that call this place home and will show you the way.

Your next stop is a visit to a local winery where you will be given a personal and guided tour that will end with an amazing and delicious wine tasting accompanied by local, delectable snacks. After having satisfied your thirst, continue traveling a route that will include an adventurous off-road section to many authentic Cretan villages.

A photo stop in between is given to allow you to capture the astonishing view out to the sea as you view the mountains at the same time. After breathtaking panoramas, you will arrive at the unique Church of Two Rocks. Outside the village of Fres and inside a ravine in a beautiful location is the temple Virgin Mary (Panagia) of Two Rocks. Once a rock detached from the mountain and rolled down the slope, atop the rock, the church of Panagia was built. Adjacent is another rock, both creating the amazingly beautiful scenery. The church was built in the late 13th century and is one of the most important Byzantine monuments in the region of Apokoronas. Like most churches of that period, Panagia has its own legend denoting people's faith.

Now it is time for your authentic local lunch where you will be immersed in the famous Cretan hospitality at a traditional tavern. Taste the Greek traditions and flavors that make food and wine from this country a favorite around the world.

To finish off your day of exploration you will visit Aptera, an ancient Minoan city. One of the most interesting archaeological sites in western Crete, Aptera was inhabited since Minoan times coming from Knossos in the 13th century. Its location above the bay of Souda was also strategically important: close to its two seaports Minoa (today's Marathi) and Kasteli (near Kalyves) Aptera could control the circulation of ships and it became a very important trading post in Crete and one of the greatest cities on the island. Aptera was destroyed in the great earthquake of 365 AD and only sparsely inhabited afterwards but a monastery dedicated to St. John the Theologian remained amidst the ruins.
