Culture and Nature of Rotorua Tour

You won't want to miss this exciting tour of Rotorua's unique culture and natural beauty. Drive through luxurious neighborhoods in Mount Maunganui, and visit a kiwifruit country store for a taste of New Zealand's most famous fruit. In Te Puia, you'll interact with the esteemed Maori peoples, watching their showcase midst active geysers. Be awed by the geothermal valley of Whakarewarewa, see the flightless kiwi bird, and be treated to a Maori cultural performance in a traditional carved meeting house. Top off the day with a drive through Rotorua city and take the scenic route back to Tauranga. Travelers appreciate the value and originality of this Tauranga tour.

Before your guide escorts you to the unique Rotorua landscape, drive through the beachfront neighborhood of Mount Maunganui. Passing the millionaire residencies in Mount Maunganui may inspire you to rest and enjoy your vacation even more. Your learned guide will escort you to a kiwifruit country store, exhibiting the kiwifruit industry and enabling you to sample the refreshing fruit.

Continue through farmland by Lake Rotoiti and Lake Rotorua to Te Whakarewarewa, home to the Maori Arts and Crafts Institute. With the Pohutu geyser nearby, Maori craftsmen will demonstrate their flax weaving and woodcarving skills. Take a short walk through the geothermal valley of Whakarewarewa to the mud pools, the famous Pohutu geyser, and the hot pools that make Te Puia unique. See New Zealand's iconic flightless bird, the Kiwi, and explore the recreated traditional Maori fortified village.

Settle down at the Marae, one of the few fully-carved traditional meeting houses in New Zealand, and enjoy a Maori cultural performance. Polynesian warriors will demonstrate their singing, dancing, and fighting prowess, including the famous Haka dance borrowed by the All Blacks rugby team.

Then you're off for a drive through Rotorua City to see the timber-framed, Tudor-style Government Gardens and the famous Bath House (now the Rotorua museum). The Art Deco Blue Baths and Rachel's Pool allowed mixed bathing since the 1930s, and are now re-open to the public. On your way back from Rotorua, you'll travel on a scenic route over hills and through deep gorges.

Reserve this exceptional Tauranga tour for natural beauty and rich Maori culture today.

Enjoyed the sights; however, so much was cramed into the tour our guide was constantly rushing us through each stop. Just it hurried.

Everything as promised. Great tour in a small van. The Maori cultural site and the geyser was amazing. Would have liked to have been in the front of the group for the Maori presentation. We were told to assemble at 115 for the 130 presentation, but several other groups beat us into the presentation.

Excellent tour, helpful & proactive guide/driver - only issue was that seats were sold over the wheel arches - very cramped & uncomfortable

Loved this tour. The only complaint was that it rained, but shore excursions had nothing to do with that. ;-)

I didn't know that kiwis grow on vines! The geothermal area was fascinating and we enjoyed the Maori cultural show. My husband was chosen to go on stage during the dance which was entertaining. Julie was an excellent guide who added many quick extras to the trip.
