Pay extra attention to the story behind the Chapel of the Apparitions here, the famous site where three children first saw the Virgin Mary, which consequently helped to inspire the construction of the sanctuary.
From there, proceed to Batalha, where your religious journey continues with a trip to the Batalha monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The structure is known for being one of Portugal's prime examples of late gothic architecture. Once you're done admiring buildings, your tour takes a turn for the natural with a trip to Nazare, where you'll be awed by the surrounding cliffs and wonderful sea breeze.
At your final stop, Obidos, you'll fall in love. For many people who have taken this tour, the colorful little village is the highlight of the route. Winding streets, medieval structures, and beautiful natural landscapes make it a memorable end to your Lisbon tour.

Had a wonderful experience to four of Portugal's interesting destinations. Our intelligent and outstanding driver/guide (Bruno Sales) spoke (in perfect English) almost nonstop about his beautiful country and the places we were visiting. He took us to a very small and cozy, but wonderful seaside restaurant in Nazare (Rosa Dos Ventos). Delicious fresh fish lunch with Portuguese wine! We were surprised that we were sharing the experience with only one other couple from the UK. Bruno deftly navigated some tight spots in his Mercedes-Benz minivan. In summary, we couldn't ask for a more knowledgeable driver/guide or expect a more gratifying experience in beautiful Portugal. Note: If you arrive by ship at Santa Appolonia pier, you can take the Metro just outside the pier to Restauradores Square. Tour meets in front of the Hard Rock Cafe; when we finished the tour, we took a leisurely and interesting walk back to the ship. Local tour operator for Shore Excursions is Inside Lisbon.
