Florence and Pisa on Your Own
Florence and Pisa on Your Own
The day long journey of adventure begins as you leave the port at La Spezia for a scenic, comfortable 2 hour ride to Florence, widely considered the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance.
Once you have arrived, admire the terracotta-tiled dome of the Duomo cathedral and pop into the shops on the medieval Ponte Vecchio stone bridge. Art lovers will swoon at the chance to see such masterpieces as Michelangelo's David, da Vinci's Annunciation and Botticelli's The Birth of Venus. Enjoy approximately 3 and a half hours of free time in this lovely Renaissance Italian city.
Continue to the city of Pisa, an approximately 70 minute ride from Florence, where you will find the iconic Leaning Tower as well as the famed Piazza dei Cavalieri which was once used as the headquarters of the Knights of Saint Stephen. While here be sure to eat some cecina, a delicious gluten-free bread made of chickpea flour, water, oil and spices. You'll have about 1 hour of free time to admire the sights in Pisa before making your way back to La Spezia, about 45 minutes away.
Throughout the day your tour assistant will share suggestions with you while on the bus as you make your way to each city. You will also receive a detailed map with notes about the monuments.
This all-day tour is perfect for those who want to see the sights independently yet don't have the time or want the stress of researching and planning. Sign up now and get ready to experience the classic cities of Florence and Pisa at your leisure and make memories of a lifetime.

The transportation was very good, but not enough time! We barely had time in Pisa to stand before the iconic tower and take a selfie. If I ever go back, I'll separate these two into a single city each day.
It was a good tour. Too long on the bus, but we knew it was going to be that way. The bus was comfortable. In Florence we had enough time to go to the Galleria dell'Accademia, to see il duomo, take pictures and buy a few souvenirs. In Pisa, enough time to take some pictures and get souvenirs. It was everything we expected.

Good luck with the guide, she was very caring and personal. The route we had to take from the bus stop in Florence was thru the dirty out outskirts of the train station. The Florence is beautiful but very crowded, so the allocated time wasn't enough. Pisa seemed to be a place in the middle of nowhere. Worse seeing the leaning tower with your own eyes though.
If you are looking for an option to tour both cities, this tour is great to go to both Florence and Pisa as it is a chartered bus that will take you to these locations and you can explore on your own. Our favorite location was Florence out of the two. I wish we had more time in Florence as there was just too much to see, but the time was limited to about 3 hours due the length of travel from the cruise port.
