Florence and Pisa

The small city of Florence on the banks of the Arno River in northeastern Tuscany is incomparable in terms of its art and architecture. Spend the day seeing the best this city has to offer as you board your coach for a scenic ride through the Tuscan countryside to to the stunning terrace of Piazzale Michelangelo. Savor panoramic overviews of the city, then make your way down into the heart of Florence with your expert guide who will take you to the must-see sites.

Stand in the Piazza Santa Croce and admire the impressive Basilica di Santa Croce, the largest Franciscan church in the world that is also the burial place of such notable Italians as Michelangelo, Galileo, and Machiavelli. While in Florence you will also see the magnificent Piazza del Duomo with the Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, Baptistery, Giotto's Bell tower, Piazza della Signoria, Piazza della Repubblica, and the elegant Ponte Vecchio (the old bridge). The Accademia Museum is where the iconic statue of David is located, and you'll enjoy skip-the-line access (ticket included) to the museum to see this amazing work of art.

Take some free time to explore the many shops or grab a cup of coffee and watch the street performers before departing for Pisa. In the university town of Pisa you will head to the Pisa Cathedral, a Romanesque medieval church with its famous Leaning Tower. Visit the Baptistry and the Leaning Tower, one of the most famous towers in the world. The tower has a 4 degree lean thanks to an unsettling of the soil underneath it, giving onlookers the impression that the tower is falling down.

Our tour guide was excellent. She was very knowledgeable and took her time showing us all the historic sights in both Florence and Pisa. I have used Shore Excursions on numerous cruises and will continue to use them. I have never been disappointed and love the small groups in every tour I have been on.

Our tour guide is from Pisa so he was able to share extra highlights. We got to the Tower early in the morning and it paid off. The weather was still comfortable and the crowds were very light. We then took a ride to Florence for a walking tour. Our guide was very entertaining but the weather was extremely hot. They do not stop for lunch so bring a snack or you will have to wait until the end (of both tours) to eat. She did take us to a natural gelato place that was exquisite and we got to see many of the highlights the city has to offer. Would definitely return to Florence for a longer stay.

This was a great tour in a private van for just 8 of us. Our driver was extremely nice and friendly. We got to Pisa pretty early before crowds got big which was nice. Florence was amazing and I wish we would've had more time to explore. Our guide there was so nice and very passionate about her city....wishing she had more time to give us much information as possible. Would recommend this tour to anyone!

Stefano, our driver, picked us up at the port in Livorno. We had four people with another family of 4. He drove us to meet up with our Florence walking tour guide, Pia. We met with her and visited the Academia and then walked around Florence to see Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and Ponte Vecchio. After our tour, the driver picked us up and drove us by the Chanti vines to see the countryside before heading to Pisa. He asked us what we wanted to do. We were able to semi-customized our tour. It was a great experience!

Good amount of time spent at each place. Definitely go up into the Pisa Tower. The tickets are for visits every 15 minutes, so don't get put off if you see a line. A locker for your bag is included in the price of the ticket. There are nice restaurants for lunch in the little side streets off the Republican Square in Florence.
