This tour features some of the best scenery in New Zealand as you drive through mixed farming country. Enjoy sights of sheep, cattle and deer farming, as well as orchards, vineyards, market gardens and much more while on your journey.
Hawkes Bay is noted as the Gourmet Food and Wine region of New Zealand. It is the second largest and oldest wine producing region, producing mainly Bordeaux style wines. You will drive through the most scenic parts of this land on some of the most picturesque roads in New Zealand. Eventually, you will come upon the highest peak that can be reached by car, Te Mata Peak, for a fantastic 360-degree view of the area and beyond. You will stop for photo opportunities as we traverse the scenic Hawkes Bay roads.
The tour continues with an informative drive through the main streets of Hastings City. You will hear some of the stories behind New Zealand's largest natural disaster, the 1931 Napier (Hawkes Bay) earthquake, and why the cities of Hastings and Napier were rebuilt in the popular styles of yesteryear.
From Hastings, the tour takes a scenic drive back to Napier to soak up the Art Deco style in and around Napier. You will also visit the National Tobacco Building and enjoy a drive through a mostly 1930's Art Deco housing estate before ascending a fantastic city lookout. Here you will take in sights of Hawkes Bay, Cape Kidnappers, and beyond.
At the conclusion of the tour, you will have the option to do some shopping or just walk the main streets in the central city with your camera before returning to your shuttle. You will also receive a small souvenir to remember your time spent in Napier.
We had a VERY knowledgeable guide for the Hawkes Bay Scenic Tour. Unfortunately, the weather was a bit poor that day but our guide took us to the driest part of the tour first and when we returned to historic Napier, the rain had let up. There is so much history in this town due to the earthquake in 1931 that lifted the land and created the town as it is today. The Bay is gorgeous and the views from the top of the mountain, amazing. Napier is fascinating with all of its Art Deco history. We loved this tour.

It was another rainy day so our tour had to be rerouted. The driver did a good job of finding interesting sights we could see even though the hilltop view was again, nonexistant. He was friendly and knowledgeable and made a rainy day excursion fun

We traveled in a small van with 6 others, the driver was very friendly and informative, she took time to make sure we could see as much as possible.

There were only 7 people on the tour with a very interesting & interested driver/guide. He told us the history, the architecture, geology, festivals etc of Napier. He finished under the 4 hours so took us to additional sights. Definitely recommend this company.
