Highlights of Amsterdam with Van Gogh
Your journey of discovery in to all things Van Gogh begins as you and your small group leave the docks on a tram to explore the various neighborhoods while learning about the life of Dutch painting Master Vincent Van Gogh. Being as your group will be kept to a minimum number of guests, this allows for a more personalized experience with one-on-one attention.
Van Gogh is one of the most influential and prolific figures in Western art, creating about 2,100 works. Discover how he started his career as a young art dealer and took a side turn into missionary life before moving to Paris and helping fuel the post-impressionist movement with such contemporaries as Paul Gauguin. Sadly, Van Gogh endured periods of mental torment and was considered a madman and failure while alive, only rising to fame after tragically committing suicide at age 37.
Once in the city, start your walking tour along Amsterdam's old naval shipyards and the golden canals. Marvel at the Art Deco architecture of the Amrath Hotel, Rembrandt's house and the Botanical Gardens that are a continual inspiration to artists. At the Amstel River you can snap a selfie on one of the many wooden bridges or have your picture taken by one of the river's famous houseboats. Then it's back on the tram for a short ride to Museumplein, a public space housing a concert hall and 3 museums, including the Van Gogh.
Step inside the Van Gogh museum and enjoy an hour of free time to admire his many works including Sunflowers, Almond Blossom, The Yellow House, Wheatfield with Crows, and The Potato Eaters.
This 2.5-hour small group tour is a must-do for Van Gogh fans and art lovers! Reserve your spot for an illuminating look into the life and works of one of the Dutch Masters.
