Island Introduction by Open Air Bus
Get an overview of Cozumel's history, along with tequila and beaches, on this half-day Cozumel shore excursion by an open air touring bus.
After meeting your guide at the starting location, you will board your 36 seater bus and get ready to take in some of the many sites and tastes Cozumel has to offer. During your tour, you will experience a little sand, a little history, and a little tequila.
At your first stop, you will learn about the process of making tequila, from the plant to the bottle. After the demonstration, test different types of tequila such as a Tequila Blanco, Tequila Reposado, or Tequila Anejo.
You will then travel to the far side of the island to enjoy a unique beach with white sands, lounge chairs and a pool overlooking the sea. You will have approximately 90 minutes to relax, swim, beachcomb or purchase a tropical drink at the bar.
Your next stop on this Cozumel excursion will be will be at "Cedral," which was the first town on the island of Cozumel. Although this was a small village and not on the scale of the Mayan ruins on the mainland, it is still a part of the Mayan history, and your guide will explain the how and why. Local artisans will be available to show you their handicrafts. After your mini-Mayan history introduction, you will re-board the safari bus and return to the starting point.

The rest of the people who had signed up for this tour cancelled at the last minute. The tour company offered to refund our money or provide a private tour in an air conditioned taxi. Of course, we took the private tour. Our driver, Antonio, was very knowledgeable and gracious hosts. We literally went to interesting sites some of which were not on the itinerary. He gave us more than enough time to enjoy each stop which included a chocolate factory, tequila tasting, shopping, tour of the "Caribbean" side of Cozumel, and wrapping it with a stop at Sky Reef for swimming, snorkeling, drinks, more shopping and relaxing. One of our best memories of this cruise.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and the tour was nice, it gives a good overview of the island. The visit of El Cedral and the Tequila farm were handled in perfect timing so we had time to enjoy lunch.

The open air bus broke down prior to our tour, but we were taken is an air conditioned van and our tour guide "Ruben" was excellent. Very knowledgeable.

I was surprised that ever though our cruise ship Celebrity Equinox had 5,000 guests, that we were the only two to sign up for this excursion. Rather than an open air bus, we were given a Taxi with a driver that spoke perfect English. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed the tour.

We loved seeing around Cozumel and Felipe and Juan did a fabulous job! We loved all our stops but especially the last stop at the Tequila tasting. We had so much fun and made it back to port in plenty of time to catch our ship. We would recommend the tour to anyone.
