Skip the crowds and head for the mellow beach resort area of Cherating Village. This small, laid back town is rich in tradition and full of local seaside artisans.

Visit Pandanus Weaving Center and admire the tablemats, hats and handbags skillfully woven out of grass. At the Batik workshop you will watch the traditional handicraft of batik painting in true cottage industry fashion.

From there you will travel to the quaint fishing village of Beserah and see how the locals prepare salted fish, a popular local delicacy. Walk along Black Rock Beach, named from the black rocks of mysterious volcanic lava origin.

Continue on to Tanjung Api fishing jetty to capture photos of fishing life then enjoy a scenic drive through residential suburbs including a look at the Regent and Chief Minister's residence.

At Teluk Chempedak you can stroll along the beach, meander through the local stalls to see various handicrafts and sample local food or stop in the nearby Hyatt Regency to relax with a drink before your return back to port. Both are at your own expense.

Reserve your spot now and get ready to enjoy a private look at Malay village and beach life.
