Las Palmas Highlights

Your whirlwind Las Palmas tour is jammed-packed, so you do not miss any of the highlights and hidden gems. Begin with your local, knowledgeable, and English-speaking guide for a gentle stroll and be introduced to the city. Walk past Santa Catalina Park, a famous park where all the major city celebrations take place. Dive into the very soul of Gran Canarias's capital and get to know it through the stories of the people who live there and make the city so special.

Next you will have the chance to view the famous Las Canteras beach, one of the longest and most iconic urban beaches in Europe, where tourists, surfers, and locals alike enjoy their time by the ocean. Also see La Puntilla Beach, where the film Moby Dick was shot.

Moving past the crowds, get a glimpse of the completely undiscovered La Isleta peninsula, a natural protected area, where panoramic photo opportunities of this stunning wild coast await. Pass by Mercado del Puerto, serving as a farmers' market during the day before turning into a vibrant street food spot in the evening. Make like a local and take a public bus (ticket included) and ride to the neighborhood of Vegueta, the oldest part of the city known for its colorful colonial architecture. Stop to have a snack of some of the local food plus be afforded a great view of the marina. If time permits pay a visit to Mercado de Vegueta, the oldest market in the Canary Islands to taste some local fruits.

Next up is the historical point where the city of Las Palmas was founded, the famous Santa Ana cathedral and Casa de Colon (Columbus Museum) are in the Old Town. Walk along the less crowded streets of the Triana neighborhood and be inspired to take Instagram-worthy pictures of the area's colorful houses that date to colonial times.

You will have worked up an appetite buy now so next stop by a local cafe or restaurant to enjoy a delicious, typical Canarian lunch, made with local and fresh ingredients.

Finish up your tour at San Telmo park, once the first harbor of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. From here it's very easy to get a bus or taxi back to the Las Canteras/port area. Feel free to ask your guide for suggestions for what else to see and do during your stay.

Please Note: On particular days, public transportation may be replaced by a taxi ride. If the Mercado de Vegueta and or the Mercado del Puerto are closed on the day of your tour, you will not go inside but will be given history and information about them from the outside.
