Continue with a short drive from here to the Moeraki Boulders where you will have a chance to walk on the beach and get up close to these giant round rocks. The mysterious Moeraki Boulders are millions of years old and time and tide have left them exposed on the shore, although at times they are surrounded or submerged in the waves. Your trip is planned to avoid the high tide so you may see the boulders and your guide will tell you of their geological origin as well as the Maori legend about their creation. Drive back to Dunedin City and experience some of city sights, this lively town is brimming with beautiful Victorian architecture, cozy cafes, and the vibrant University of Otago. While here, take in the highlights including Baldwin Street - the world' steepest road, the Grand Railway Station and if time permits a stop at the shops in the Octagon (city centre) before making your way back to the cruise ship pier.
