Explore Nizwa on your own private guided tour. See all of the famous destinations, including the historical Nizwa Fort, the bustling open vendor market, and countless mosques.

Meet your guide and begin a day filled with historical sites and cultural experiences. Nizwa was the capital of Oman in the 6th and 7th centuries AD. Forts and castles are Oman's most striking cultural landmarks, and together with its towers and city walls, they have historically been used as defensive look-out points. It is estimated that there are over 500 forts, castles, and towers in Oman. Your tour will include a few that are remarkable and striking in their architecture and style.

Revel in the heritage as you stroll through the Nizwa Souq, the largest open market in Oman. The souq is famous for its array of products offered, including handicrafts, agricultural products, spices, and dates. Silver, gold, and other handmade jewelry items can be bought at the market, making it ideal for souvenir shopping.

Then move on to Jabreen, perhaps the finest of Omani castles. The castle has dungeons, passages, as well as rooms and ceilings decorated with fine carvings and paintings. All of these landmarks and much more plus a lunch break are included in this daylong adventure. As you dine at a local restaurant, absorb the local culture through the food you eat and the diverse array of people walking by. Your backdrop all day is the picturesque mountains adding to the overall Nizwa experience.

Please Note: Vehicles available for this tour accommodate groups of up to 5 guests maximum. Groups with more than 5 guests will need to book multiple vehicles. Please take this information into consideration when booking. During the Holy Month of Ramadan and the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad, there will be no entertainment, no belly dancing, and alcohol will not be served.

Recommended Dress
Comfortable lightweight summer clothing and walking shoes are suitable for most of the year, but sweaters or jackets may be needed for the winter months, especially in the evenings. Good quality sunlasses are advised, and photo-chromatic lenses for those who wear spectacles. Hats and some protection for the head are advisable when in direct sunlight. The United Arab Emirates has conservative dress traditions. Swimwear must be confined to the beach and hotel pools. Men and women should ensure shoulders and knees are covered when in public, especially in souks, shops, malls, and villages. If you plan on visiting a mosque, please wear loose long trousers or long skirts and long sleeves. Shorts, and tight or transparent clothing is not permitted. Women must cover their head with a scarf.
Participants must be able to get in and out of the vehicle. Normal tourist photography is acceptable, but it is considered offensive to photograph Arab women. It is also courteous to ask permission before photographing men. Photographs of government buildings, police, or military installations are not allowed.
