Old San Juan Food Tour
Start off on foot near the Old San Juan City bay and eat your way through the Colonial city, visiting three tasting locations in total. Along the way you will learn a little of the history and culture of the oldest city flying under the U.S. flag, enjoy breathtaking Spanish and French architecture and dine at some of the best restaurants on the island.
Your walking tour will begin at a local restaurant with Puerto Rico's mouthwatering sweet bread, the mallorca, and a cup of locally-sourced coffee.
Then, you'll enjoy some of San Juan's beautiful architecture as you sample fresh and local favorites made with ingredients from the city's most popular farmer's market.
The favorite stop for many guests is next. You will get a hands on experience making our most signature local dish (mofongo) in a restaurant that was once Old San Juan's original city hall (dating back to 1523!) Your mofongo will be made with chicken or veggies upon request.
Another traditional dish in Puerto Rico is rice and beans, and you will sample it in one of Old San Juan's best kept secrets, a hidden open-air patio dating back to the 17th century.
No progressive meal would be complete without dessert, and at Old San Juan's only choco bar, you'll savor hand crafted local chocolate in a beautiful, unique environment.
To keep the tour fresh and new, the sites visited are changed from time to time based on seasonal dishes and availability of certain foods and space at the restaurants visited. Final destinations will be announced the day of the tour by your guide.
Please Note: This tour is not wheelchair or scooter accessible. Due to the nature of the tour, it is not suggested for children under 8 years of age. Our guide Carlos took us for a great sampling of some of the best food. He was very knowledgeable and gave us a great tour. Highly recommended.
While the local fare is a nice part of this excursion, the best part was all the sights our tour guide took us to and the history and culture he shared with us. The group was good size but not so large it took away from the experience. There was only one part that was a little strenuous. All in all, I would recommend this tour to anyone interest in the local culture.

We really enjoyed our food tour. Our guide was able to share some of her personal favorites all while educating us on the city and the culture. It was a great experience for us and our kids. The food is amazing and our tour guide made sure to accommodate everyone in the groups dietary preferences. I would recommend that you go on this tour hungry because it is filling! This tour is also a great way to see the city by foot.

Our guide Carmen was energetic and very proud of her city. She provided interesting information while we ate wonderful foods. Our group was less than a dozen people. It was well worth the fee.

This excursion is totally worth the price. Carmen, our tour guide, was excellent. She accommodated and had everything ready for the group before we started the day. I would definitely do another food tour just because I had such a wonderful time on this one.
