Old Tallinn on Foot
If you desire to see the bevy of historical landmarks in Tallinn, strolling to them is ideal. You'll begin this tour visiting Old Town, seeing the Stout Margaret Tower, St. Brigit's Monastery, and the Church of the Holy Ghost prior to visiting Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Cathedral and the Parliament building (Castle) in the Upper Town. Travelers interested in historical landmarks and unique alcohol tastings enjoy this tour.
A two mile long wall from the 13th Century is still surrounding Old town of Tallinn. It is listed in UNESCO as the best preserved old town in the Northern Europe. Since the 18th century, Tallinn has produced and distributed a variety of spirits.
Your learned guide will share Tallinn's landmarks. First, you'll see Stout Margaret Towers, large round structures that guarded the main entrance of Old Town during the 16th century. Today, you can buy coffee from the cafe to the left of the gate.
Next, you'll visit St. Brigit's Monastery. This 15th-century covenant is special because its ruins once housed monks and nuns.
Board a coach to begin the walking portion of the tour. The old town consists of two parts, Lower town and Upper town. Visit Toompea Castle, the grand structure housing Estonia's Parliament, prior to reaching the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the largest and most grand Orthodox cathedral in Tallinn. Just down the road is the oldest pharmacy in the world.
Thereafter, Enjoy free time to stroll the area before returning to the pier. Reserve this Tallin tour to see some remarkable sights.

This was one of the stops on our cruise in the Baltic Sea. We knew very little about this town and it's community. It was just wonderful, mideval buildings, great beer and very warm people with important historical stories to share with the world. A place worth checking out if you are in the area.
