Paleokastritsa, Lakones and Corfu Town

This half-day tour is a perfect introduction to Corfu for those who have never been to the island before, as well as those who welcome the chance to explore once again the sites at length. You will be escorted from the port via coach through the beautiful countryside, to the famous Paleokastritsa bay, well known as the Capri of Greece. At the hilltop you will discover a Byzantine monastery still inhabited by monks, who warmly welcome those brave enough to ascend the 400 meters uphill to view the Byzantine-era religious icons and relics in their chapel and museum.

After a visit with the monks you will board the coach for the traditional village of Lakones, referred to by the locals as God's Balcony due to its spectacular views of Paleokastritsa Bay and the surrounding hills. Continue by coach over the mountain ridge to Corfu Town, passing through some of the island's most picturesque traditional villages along the way.

Once in Corfu Town you will be treated to a sightseeing tour on coach around town, passing by the city highlights including the ancient ruins of the Palaipolis, the 19th century he Royal Palace of St. George and St. Michael, the summer palace of the ex-King of Greece, Mon Repos, Garitsa Bay.

Next up is a 14th century Venetian fortress and Espianade square - once used as drilling grounds for Napoleon Bonaparte's soldiers. Pass by the Old Port crowded with traditional caiques, survey an open-air flea market and see San Rocco square, the commercial centre of town, on your return trip back to port.
