Private Rijeka, Trsat Castle and Opatija

Upon disembarkation you will join your private guide for a guided tour of Rijeka, a bustling seaport city with a strategically important past. Discover its storied history as you pass by the Leaning Tower then visit the Cathedral of Sain Vitus, complete with Baroque-style marble altars. At Kolber Square, in the heart of Rijeka, you can join the lively scene at the town's green market. Admire the surrounding architecture including the nearby Croatian National Theatre, a grand structure built by Ivan Zajec that first opened in 1885. You'll then be taken to Pivnica Cont, which is a famous local restaurant where you will enjoy a refreshing drink and take in the sites. Continue on to Trsat Castle, one of the oldest fortifications along the coastline of Croatia. The castle served the Romans well during the Liburnian times thanks to its location 138 meters (453 feet) above sea level over Rijeka.

From there, you will take a short drive to Opatija, a traditional seaside resort along the Kvarner Gulf. Long referred to as the Pearl of the North Adriatic, this elegant city in its heyday was a magnet for the rich and famous including Lord Byron, James Joyce and Isadora Duncan. While in town, spend some free time strolling around the charming 19th century hotels offering a grand mix of Baroque, Rococo and Art nouveau architecture. Well-maintained public gardens, beautiful villas and the renowned coastal promenade Lungomare round out your experience. If you want to experience and photograph Kvarner, Rijeka and Opatija without the noisy, imposing crowds, then this is the tour for you. Sign up today!
