Puna Coastline Adventure
Puna Coastline Adventure
Exploring the east coast of Hilo is a must during any trip to the island. This Hilo tour gives you a chance to do just that, as well as see past and current lava flows along the way.
Expect to see plenty of lava flows as you make your way to Lava Tree State Park, where you'll encounter tree molds formed by a lava flow back in the late 1700s. You will also pass by the remains of old Kapoho Village, where you'll find that a 1960 lava flow consumed the town and farm lands. Stop in at Ahalanui Park and dip your toes in a volcanically heated warm pond. Visit Pohoiki Bay and ride along the tropical coastline to the end of the road at Kalapana where recent lava flows have created one of the island's newest black sand beaches.
Other stops include the famous Liliuokalani Gardens for panoramic views of Hilo Bay, a local candy store and Rainbow Falls, a natural wonder. These falls, which feature a drop of about 80 feet, provide the perfect photo op; have your camera ready!
If you've been looking to take in Hilo's incredible natural beauty, this is a prime opportunity.
Please Note: Due to the recent volcanic activity, this tour is suspended until further notice.
