From here you will travel to the west coast to Butterfly Valley, a 600-acre nature park filled with Kalimorphos Panaxia Quatripunctaria, a member of the Jersey Tiger moth family that looks very much like a butterfly. These moths gather in the lush ravine in staggering numbers during the summer months. Continue through the typical Rhodian countryside full of olive, cypress, pomegranate, and citrus fruit trees to ancient city of Filerimos.

Located atop a mountain, this city was built over the site of the ancient Doric city of Ialyssos and rewards visitors with panoramic views of the underlying villages and the Agean Sea. Watch in amusement as peacocks greet you, then see the Byzantine-styled Monastery and the Church of Our Lady of Filerimos. Follow an impressive, old stone Golgatha path decked out with shrines to the base of an imposing, 30 meter-high cross.
