Rhum Distillery, Kimsha Beach and Lunch
Here's a rare opportunity to go behind the scenes of a popular, 6,000 square foot rum factory for an up close look at how the handmade rums are created and processed.
The fun of your St. Maarten excursion begins as you leave the pier for a scenic drive to Topper's Rhum, a family owned and operated distillery that grew out of a complimentary after dinner drink the Topper restaurant patrons fell in love with. Your guide will lead you through a hands-on tour where you will learn about the history of rum making and observe the fermentation, distilling, filtering, blending and bottling processes. Head to the lab to learn about quality control measures and taste one of the more than 50 flavored rums in development; over at the tasting bar you can sample rum-infused cake and artisanal products. While here, pop into the boutique shop for unique St. Maarten gifts and pick up a bottle or two of limited edition flavored rums that are only available on site.
Continue on to Kimsha Beach and be greeted with a welcome drink and enjoy a delicious lunch of traditional Caribbean BBQ. Sink your teeth into succulent chicken, rice and peas, fried plantains and West Indian sauteed vegetables as you sip on rum or a fruit punch. Afterward you can relax on the warm sand and soak in the sun or take a refreshing swim. Enjoy a little snorkeling or other water sport, at an additional fee.
Your 4-hour St. Maarten tour concludes with a leisurely ride back to port. Reserve your spot now for some rum and fun under the beautiful St. Maarten sun.
The distillery was amazing. Friendly staff and out of this world rhum! Even brought some home we liked it so much! Not a smooth transition from place to place but overall the distillery was worth it!

I was blown away at how customized, personal, and extensive this tour was! We had a group of 11 for my 30th birthday and 7 of us booked this excursion. We arrived early and were driven to the distillery early, so there was no waiting around. We had rum punch upon arrival, then got a history lesson in the tasting room, tried as much rum as we could handle, then were shown the bottling process and did a few more tastings of rum and rum cake (with birthday candles!). Everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable, and we weren't pressured to buy anything but most of us did since their rum prices are reasonable and their merch is so cute! Lunch at Toppers was delicious and we took pictures with Mr Toppper himself! The nearby beach was gorgeous. A storm came through and we were able to escape the rain early since the van was already waiting to take us back. Highly recommend this experience for rum lovers and party groups!
