Departing from the pier, you will embark on a great full day tour to San Jose! The drive each way is about 90 minutes and winds through lush rainforest as it makes the climb up to San Jose. Along the way. you will drive on a section of the Pan American Highway. Rainforest will give way to lush valleys, green pastures, coffee plantations, and several small villages along the way.
Upon arrival in San Jose, you will begin a scenic orientation drive of this cosmopolitan capital where you will see old next to new, big along side small. You will see the Metropolitan Cathedral and a visit will be made to the landmark National Theater, in the heart of the city. With its ornate 19th-century, neo-Classical architecture, elaborate murals and gilded baroque fixtures, the National Theater is considered the most beautiful building in the country.
You will then visit the National Museum. This former fortress is home to a vast collection of archaeological and historic artifacts giving you a great glimpse into the country's history.
Next, your scenic tour continues as you drive through the exclusive Rohrmoser district, La Sabana Park and past the National Stadium.
A stop will be made for a delicious lunch at one of the best restaurants in San Jose. Lunch includes one non-alcoholic beverage. Local beer and drinks are available at an additional cost.
On the return to your ship, you will make shopping stops at different local souvenir shops where you can purchase traditional crafts and art. Make sure to bring some small bills (US dollar accepted) for souvenirs as only large stores accept credit cards.
PLEASE NOTE: On Sunday, when the National Theater is closed a visit to the Gold Museum is substituted.
Green Way tour tops the best compared to the other tours. The company president(Mr. Mario Leon) along with his photographer and staff ensured an excellent tour. We are very please and happy with the tour.
