Scenic Cape Moreton

Begin your day of discovery and enjoy a beautiful cruise across the magnificent Moreton Bay on a ferry in air-conditioned comfort with cafe and bar facilities onboard. Have the wonderful opportunity to photograph the Tangalooma shipwrecks, a cluster of ships scuttled by the Queensland Government between 1963 and 1984 to provide safe anchorage spot for recreational boat owners on the eastern side of Moreton Bay. As you approach the shore you will have the opportunity to view from the water magnificent and scenic beaches.

Once you have reached your destination, your 4-wheel drive vehicle will be waiting to take you on a panoramic and magnificent drive along Eastern Surf Beach. Keep an eye out for the local pipis, or ghost crabs, once you are on the beach. Reach the natural bubbling Champagne Pools and take a relaxing swim (conditions permitting).

Continue from this location to make a stop and visit the beautifully romantic Honeymoon Bay and North Point. Try some traditional bush tucker (seasonal) from native animals, plants, nuts and fruits, the Australian bush foods have been on the menu for the Indigenous people for over 40,000 years.

Your off-roading, 4-wheel drive experience continues to the stunning Cape Moreton Lighthouse, Queensland's oldest lighthouse, and Museum where you can learn the history of the island and the culture. Cape Moreton Lighthouse (Cape Moreton Light), also listed as North Point Range Rear Light, is a heritage-listed active lighthouse located on Cape Moreton, a rocky headland located at the north eastern tip of Moreton Island.

When you are out and about you may spot turtles, dolphins, sharks, manta rays and whales (during season). Enjoy the spectacular views of Moreton Island and the Eastern Beach from this vantage point. Take a swim in the breathtakingly beautiful Blue Lagoon freshwater lake. This natural freshwater lake is hidden away and largely known as a both a great swimming location and bird watching hub with many species living around the area.

Discover abandoned army bunkers and canon emplacements in the sand dunes, remnants of the defense of Brisbane City against invading armies. To round out your exciting day, enjoy a delicious and traditional Aussie picnic lunch on the beach with cool beverages.
