Skagway Exclusive Photography Tour
Take Amazing Photos on this Scenic Skagway Tour
This Skagway port tour provides a rare opportunity to focus on photographing the stunning scenery of Skagway and the surrounding area with a local, professional photography guide. This is a small-group tour with only 12 passengers maximum.
Your guide will select his favorite locations and provide you with ample time to set up the best shots. Depending on conditions that day, you may be shooting the dramatic scenery of the White Pass summit- a wonderland of azure lakes and stunted forests. Or you may travel along the scenic coastline towards the ghost town of Dyea.
The emphasis is on learning and taking time for excellent photography, rather than the photography being incidental. Your guide will suggest shots, and help you get the most out of your camera. He will discuss issues such as composition, exposure, and depth of field.
The theme is flexibility, rather than adherence to a rigid schedule.
Please Note: The tour will be crossing the Canadian border and then back across the US border. As of June 1, 2009 all U.S. and Canadian citizens who are 16 and older traveling between the U.S. and Canada, by land will be required to present a valid passport (or government authorized "enhanced" drivers license.) It is suggested to bring a photo I.D. as well. U.S. and Canadian citizens who are 15 years old or younger may travel with a certified birth certificate. People of all other citizenship's are required to have a photo I.D., a passport, and visa (If required)

We had an amazing tour guide, he was fun and showed us how to take some great shots, the right exposures and we got to see some wonderful sites, this lived up to every great review! Highly recommend both shore excursions group and this tour!

This excursion costs a little more than most but if you're serious about getting some excellent nature photography this trip is well worth it. Peter Hines is a marvelous photographer and teacher, so even if you don't know much about the camera you're using he'll show you some very useful tips about composition, ways to get the visual effects you're looking for, and how to best capture the vistas around you. He focuses his comments on your level of photo experience, is very patient and helpful, and keeps the emphasis on your results rather than his background. Remember to bring your passport, though, because some of the best viewing comes after you cross into Canada.
My guide could not have been more charming, accommodating, and more willing to get me to the landscapes that I wished to access. All of them dynamic and magnificent. He did not just stick to the trails either. We we're waste deep in snow at times to get the shot. This is not just for enthusiasts. Pros and serious photographers can use these guides to access great locations that may take you weeks to find. Remember you are at the mercy of the weather. I got beautiful sunshine with just a t shirt in May. A great experience.
Our guide was great and gave us great tips

We have been on the Alaskan cruise 4 times. This was truly a highlight excursion. We took the 2 photography classes on board ship and then went with Tom on this excursion. My husband has studied photography, but still learned many things about taking pictures and how to use his camera. I am a novice, but Tom helped me get to know my own camera and apply the little I did understand in the ship classes. And then he taught me more. We have some beautiful pictures of waterfalls and scenery. But we also now know how to translate that to good pictures in Texas. So it wasn't just the beauty of Alaska. A great learning experience. HIGHLY RECOMMEND if you want to know more about photography, no matter what your level of expertise. Tom can help! We'll probably do this again.
