Stradbroke Island 4WD Escapade

Stradbroke Island 4WD Escapade
This tour begins with a short drive from the cruise ship terminal before you are transported by ferry to North Stradbroke Island, located 19 miles southeast of Brisbane. Straddie, as it is affectionately known, is the second largest sand island in the world. The island is about 24 miles long and 7 miles wide. It has a permanent population of approximately 2,500 with the three main townships of Dunwich, Amity Point and Point Lookout. The island's unique, timeless beauty is appreciated by all who live there and visit.
Upon arrival to Dunwich you will be driven to Brown Lake for freshwater swimming, great photo opportunities, morning tea of "Aussie Damper", and a cuppa (Australian for cup of tea or coffee). You will then head east towards Main Beach, stopping to feel the sand between your toes, and to take more photos and/or swimming if you wish.
Settling back into the 4WD vehicle the excursion continues north to Point Lookout's North Gorge for the "Gorge Walk" where there is a likelihood of spotting turtles, dolphins, manta rays, and sharks. In this area there are about 1,000 resident dolphins.
Leaving the North Gorge area you will travel to Flinders Beach for a BBQ lunch on the beach. While your guide is setting up the BBQ for lunch you can swim in the blue water of the Coral Sea, sunbathe, play Frisbee, take more photos, or simply relax.
From Flinders Beach the tour continues to Amity Point, where you will hopefully see some friendly Koalas and stop to photograph them. Leaving Amity Point, the tour heads back to Dunwich terminal to catch the return water taxi back to Brisbane with many lasting memories and photos of your day in paradise!
