Tallinn Highlights with Lunch
Your journey begins with a ride around the ancient city walls of Tallinn, the capital city of Estonia. The country's cultural hub retains its walled, cobble-stoned Old Town, home to cafes and shops, as well as a 15th-century defensive tower. The Gothic Town Hall, built in the 13th century and with a 64m-high tower, sits in historic Tallinn's main square.
Once inside the medieval old town you will head to Toompea Hill, a 20 to 30-meter-tall limestone mound providing ancient rulers with the perfect stronghold to protect against defenders. During the walking tour of Toompea Castle you will discover its transformation from a hill fort to a constantly-evolving castle which today houses the Estonian Parliament.
The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral offers interior views of stunning icons and mosaics, visit the Dome Church and take photos of the iconic red rooftops in the lower old town from high above a viewing platform.
Descend down into the lower old town to see the Old Town Hall and the Old Town Hall Pharmacy, in operation since 1422. See the old merchant houses and the Great Guild House, a popular haven for merchants and artisans alike. At the Church of the Holy Ghost, one of the oldest in the city and the only church that has undergone no changes since its completion, you will see a beautiful, azure colored wooden astronomical wall clock. Enjoy your 2-course traditional lunch served in one of the quaint old town restaurants before you end your time here.
From there you will next make your way to the modern city centre with its KUMU Art Museum and Kadriorg Palace. Stop for photo ops at Kadriorg Park and the famous Tallinn Song Festival Grounds.
Ride along the scenic Pirita Road and enjoy views of the 1980s Olympic Yacht Regatta Centre as well as the ruins of St. Birgitta's convent. Conclude your tour back in the city center for further exploration on your own or enjoy a scenic ride back to port.
This half-day tour is perfect for those who are short on time yet want an introduction to the ancient and modern city of Tallinn. Reserve your spot today and remember to bring your camera.
