Charming Towns and Tigre Delta Cruise

Discover the fascinating Tigre Delta with its diverse population, wildlife, and unique history and culture.

After your transfer to downtown, you will meet your guide and travel outside the city to several towns. Your first stop will be the town of Olivos. Olivos an exclusive residential area which is the site of the President of Argentina's residence (the name of this compound is Quinta Presidencial de Olivos). The city is bordered on the east by the shores of the Rio de la Plata.

Next you will visit San Isidro, an historic town with cobbled streets and old single-story houses. San Isidro, icon of the Argentinean aristocracy. Founded in 1706, the town features the famous San Isidro Chapel built by the renowned Spanish explorer Domingo de Acassusso. The chapel is one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in Argentina located in the Old Quarter. The Old Quarter includes the pictographic "Paseo de los Ombues" an outstanding vantage point.

Departing San Isidro, you will drive to Tigre, the main port in the Tigre Delta. The Tigre Delta is a 14,000 square kilometer area where thousands of islands and inlets, water channels, rivers and backwaters form a sub-tropical wonderland. The Delta is named after the indigenous tigers that once occupied the area long before explorers and settlers came into the delta region. In Tigre, you will board a river boat to sail through the canals of one of the largest deltas in the world. You will see how the inhabitants of the area transformed the marsh lands into a developed area with grass paths and streets of fresh water. You will cruise along the Parana River where you will see diverse inhabitants and wildlife nestled on the banks of the river and on the thousands of small islands that make up the Tigre Delta.

After your river cruise you will drive back to Buenos Aires. Your tour ends in downtown Buenos Aires on the main pedestrian street in Buenos Aires. Here you will have free time to stroll the street, see the many shops, have a snack or just relax. When you are finished with your free time, you will hire a taxi (there are many on this street) for the 10 minute drive back to the ship pier. The cost of the taxi is approximately $8 US for the taxi (not per person). The cost of the taxi is not included in the price of your tour.
