Tugboat and Reef Snorkel
See the sights of Curacao by land, and then snorkel over a reef and then a sunken tugboat on this sightseeing and snorkeling combo tour!
After being picked up at the pier, you will visit the East of Curacao, which is Curacao's most residential area. After showing you the historical city of Willemstad, you will depart for a beautiful nearby bay with calm water and great snorkeling opportunities. A shallow terrace runs between 15 and 25 feet (4.5 and 7.5 meters) deep with healthy coral, diverse fish, and even some well-camouflaged seahorses. The reef area is the perfect nursery for small colorful fish that call it home. After drying off and re-hydrating with complimentary juice and water, you will head toward an historic site: Fort Beekenburg, originally built to protect Caracasbaai from pirates and enemy nations. The trail offers a good view of Barbara Beach across the expansive harbor of Spanish Water.
Next on your Curacao tour, go snorkeling over a picturesque sunken tugboat in calm and protected waters. The fully intact 30-foot wreck sits upright in 20 feet of water; the wheelhouse is only five feet beneath the surface. After three decades below the waves, the skeletal hull is totally encrusted with coral and Christmas tree worms. The area is also teeming with tropical fish, all amenable to being photographed. After drying off and heading back to shore, you will be dropped off at the ship.

Our guide was delightful. She picked us up, as well as another couple, at the dock where we drove around in an open-aired jeep. On the way to our first snorkel stop (Sunken Tugboat), our guide pointed out interesting sites around the island of Curacao. We snorkeled off the beach and had to swim a short way to reach the tugboat. The water was clear and absolutely beautiful. Our guide was with us the whole way pointing out unique and different fish and coral formations. After about 45 minutes, we were on our way to the next snorkel site which was Playa Caracasvaal Beach. On the way, our guide took us to different parts of the island for breathtaking views. She explained all about the history of Curacao and the plant life. Playa Caracasvaal Beach had smaller fish and was called the "Nursery". Unfortunately we didn't get to see the baby squid. On our way back to the dock we did a quick tour of downtown Curacao. It was a wonderful experience.
The reef was right at the beach so access was easy. There were a ton of fish of all different kinds. I could have stayed there and watched them all day. The tugboat was just around the corner. There weren't as many fish or the variety of the first place but it was still good. The guides were nice and informative too.

We had so much fun on this tour! The snorkeling was an easy swim that was teeming with aquatic wildlife. The drive was fun and allowed you to see the island from a local perspective which was very cool. Our guide, Ryan, was impressively knowledgeable about the island and it's history. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone going to the island. We cannot wait to go back and do it again!
Excellent snorkeling, wide variety of fish - we saw an octopus, shark, eel, very good. Our hostess was phenomenal as well. Highly recommended.
This is the second time I booked the same excursion. The small size of the tour and the locations they go to was the reason I went back for a second time. The tub boat itself is OK, but the small beach that is the first stop is one of the best I have seen in the Caribbean. The number of species is great plus the quantity of fish is awesome. .
