Venice Walking Tour with Gondola Ride

Spend your time in Venice walking with an experienced guide through the city's most important sites and gliding along its famous canals on a classic gondola. You'll see St. Mark's Square, the Doge's Palace, the ""Bridge of Sighs,"" Campo Santa Maria Formosa, and much more for a truly Venetian experience you will not forget.

Your Venice walking tour begins with a visit to St. Mark's Square, known as the heart of Venice. As you explore the area, visit St. Mark's Basilica with your skip-the-line tickets. After your St. Mark's tour, walk a short distance to the Doge's Palace, built in the Venetian gothic style. This is one of the main landmarks of the city of Venice, and it is connected to the New Prison by the infamous Bridge of Sighs, which was constructed in 1602. Prisoners who were interrogated in the Doge's Palace found themselves walking and sighing across the bridge before entering the prison, where they'd likely spend the rest of their days.

After your St. Mark's Square tour, discover a hidden part of Venice. With your English-speaking, knowledgeable guide, stroll along the city's small passageways, over ancient bridges above narrow canals. As you venture to all of these sites, you'll learn about the city's epic history. Your expert guide will share interesting facts about what you're seeing, giving you details that will allow you to form a deeper connection with the city.

Your next stop is Campo Santa Maria Formosa, where you will discuss Venetian architecture with your guide as you admire the church's Baroque and Renaissance facades. This Venice walking tour continues through the back streets of Venice into the Cannaregio district. There you can admire the church of San Giovanni e Paolo, where many famous Venetians are buried. In addition to your visits to these famous monuments, hear stories about Venetian characters like Marco Polo and common citizens that together made this city of stone and water the place that it is today.

Your walking tour concludes nearby the famous Rialto Bridge and you will have some free time to explore on your own until your Venice gondola tour begins. No visit to Venice is complete without a traditional gondola ride. Travel like a true Venetian in one of the city's black and gold boats propelled by the power of a very talented gondolier. With a maximum of six people per boat, you will get an unforgettable experience as you glide through the narrow and winding canals of Saint Mark's district. This Venice gondola ride will bring you by La Fenice Opera House, the Guggenheim Museum and Peggy Guggenheim's Home, the San Moise Church, Mozart's home, the Ca' Dario Palace, the Salute Church, and many more exquisite sights.

This combination of a Venice walking tour with gondola ride gives you the best of both worlds; see the city from two totally different perspectives for a more well-rounded view of the most romantic city in the world.

Please Note: Bags and backpacks are NOT allowed inside St. Mark's Basilica. Please do not bring any bags with you, as you will not be allowed to enter the Basilica with them. The Basilica is sometimes closed unexpectedly due to high water or religious ceremonies. On those occasions when St. Mark's Basilica is open with high water, skip-the-line tickets will not be accepted, as all visitors have access to the church through only one door.

This tour departs from and returns to the St. Mark's Square area. Depending on your ship's docking location, a vaporetto, water shuttle, or walk may be required. Transportation between your ship and St. Mark's Square is not included in the tour price.

This was a very well organized walking tour and gondola ride. Very informative. Ease of locating tour guide for the walking portion, and we were also met by the next tour guide that walked with us to the next meeting location so as not to get lost for our Gondola ride. Just wish the weather had cooperated more! Very impressed overall.

Our tour guide was great! She was very knowledgeable since she has lived in Venice all her life. She presented St Marks Cathedral in a personal way.

Beautiful Venice

This two part excursion was lovely despite a thunderstorm and heavy rain. The gondola ride was fun, but the gondolier was not a tour guide and rarely spoke. The walking tour guide was fantastic despite the original meeting place being an unmarked spot along the waterfront...we had to ask several people where the location was, but ultimately waited to see a person with a placard. The guide's English was wonderful and she clearly enjoyed her job and wanted us to love Venice as much as she does. The tours of Doge Palace, San Marco Cathedral and Square and a walk through neighborhoods was delightful. We did not want it to end

Event was very organized. A little difficult to hear guide due to crowds, but not bad. Gondola ride was nice and just about the right length of time. Glad we visited Venice before the flooding!
