Vineyards and Cabo Girao
Make the very most of your day in the natural beauty and explore some of the highlights of Madeira Island! This adventure is conducted in a 4x4 vehicle with a maximum seating capacity of 8 people per jeep, which we will utilize as we travel through the countryside and forested areas.
Starting at the village of Serra de Gua, surrounded by steep mountains, situated in a valley, and supported by several ravines, making it challenging for agriculture to be sustained there.
Next stop is the parish, called "poios" in Madeira, which refers to cultivated terraces that have shaped the island's rural landscape since the beginning of the population for centuries. Poios, is situated in the southwest of the island and is surrounded by lush plant life and high mountains.
We'll visit a nearby farm in the north which cultivates one of the table wines for a memorable experience. This experience consists of a guided tour of the trellis vineyards, with explanations along your journey, followed by a sample of six table wines at Quinta do Barbusano to enjoy with toasted cheese and chorizo.
As we continue our journey, we learn more about Sao Vicente on the island's north shore, while traveling along off-road routes. Visit the Skywalk at Cabo Giro (580 meters above sea level), which offers breathtaking views over the town Camara de Lobos and Funchal.
