Waterfall Hike and Kamehame Cliffs

This hiking tour option is recommended for both beginner to intermediate hikers alike and is conducted on a jungle trail among the native flora and fauna of Hawaii on two privately owned stunning properties. Discover a hidden 35-foot, double-tiered waterfall hidden in this slice of paradise.

Join in on this guided waterfall hiking tour with your local, friendly and knowledgeable nature guide for approximately 1.5-miles of hiking round-trip. Experience the majestic beauty of a cascading waterfall, tranquil streams, or splash in the shallow, picturesque pool as you explore the lush tropical vegetation of Hawaii's paradise.

From Waikiki you will shuttle by comfortable van to the lush Ko'olau Mountains on the windward side of O'ahu. Delicious complimentary trail snacks and a water bottle will be given to all guests (optional rain poncho and mosquito spray) and then it's time for the adventure to begin! Take a narrated, nature hike for approximately 1.5 miles in total and hike along a privately-owned jungle trail. The trail can be slippery when wet, so wear suitable hiking shoes. Soon you will discover Hawaii is home to a variety of plants and trees, some of which are found nowhere else in the world. At the end of the trail is a spectacular view of Oahu's windward coast and a 35-foot waterfall. The approximate elevation gain throughout the hike to the falls is 200 feet.

From here, your adventure continues as you explore East Oahu on this unforgettable journey with a ride to the 1,200-foot high ridge top at Kamehame, which is part of the Ko'olau Summit Trail (KST). Nowhere else on Oahu can you get drive-up access on private property comparable to this view. From this privately owned clifftop perch, gaze out overlooking Waimanalo Beach and the various shades of the blue Pacific Ocean with several offshore islands seemingly within your reach. This is a spectacular and rare perspective of windward Oahu and one most people do not get to see. Also known as Deadman's Catwalk, there used to be a concrete walkway to the cliff edge. That structure has since been demolished by the landowner, but the views are why people are so fascinated by this location. You will certainly capture some of the most breathtaking pictures of Oahu from here seeing two-sides of the island from one scenic point.

Along this scenic driving route you will also make stops for pictures overlooking Diamond Head surf breaks, Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve, a flooded volcanic crater teaming with tropical fish (closed Tuesdays), then onto Halona Point Blowhole, a lava tube with a small opening in its ceiling creating an ocean geyser sometimes shooting over 60-feet into the air, and the famous Sandy Beach Park allowing you to watch surfers and bodysurfers attack the pounding shore break with skill and bravery.

This tour is eco-friendly and earth conscious and therefore does not use single-use plastics on tour. In order to protect our precious environment and begin to cutdown the use of plastics we encourage all guests to bring their own water bottle, reusable container. At the end of the tour you will return to Waikiki as you reminisce with your family and friends about this most incredible day spent hiking to a waterfall, discovering jaw-dropping views and experiencing a side of Hawaii you have only dreamed about, sign up today and don't miss out!
