Nice relaxing train ride up and beautiful scenery!

Enjoyed the train ride up to Canada and then crossing back through. The stop in Canada and going through customs was different for me as I hadn't done that on a train. I was a little nervous, but it was quite easy. I got to take many scenic photos and video on the way up and down on the bus. The bus was a nice alternative to just going back the same way on the train as they stopped and you could get out and take pics and see things from a different angle.

Best of both worlds.. Bus + Rail Excursion
October 17, 2019
Taking a side trip from our Alaskan Cruise, we took the bus excursion from Skagway along the Klondike Hwy. Our driver Jessie's knowledge of history with interesting details along with lots of humour made this trip so enjoyable! Returning on the White Pass Summit Rail train had large windows, every seat provided a great view. Opportunity to stand on the platform between the cars provided the best photography. Taking the bus excursion first, then ending with the train back to Stagway gave you the best of both worlds. Highly recommend this excursion!!

Best Excursion we could have taken in Skagway

The train trip appealed to us. It had some historical significance and being a train trip it was a novelty. The train cars were well appointed with heat and a bathroom if needed, the commentary was informative and together with the scenery and historical commentary ensured the trip of some three hours went by fairly quickly. As Canadians, it was unique experience to go from the United States into Canada and back to the United States without too much hassle from border line security in either country. The return bus ride was great. The driver was informative, funny and helpful. He made a point of stopping at a pull out to allow several of his passengers to take a photo of a black bear. Overall, good value for the time and money while on vacation!

White Mountain Pass RR

The tour operator and their employees were friendly and knowledgeable. We were pleasantly surprised when our train ride ended in Canada (Mt. Frazer) and picked up by a small bus and driven back to Skagway. On the way back, we stopped at several scenic places and took photos. They dropped us off in Skagway or at our ship. That was definitely personal service not given today. I would highly recommend this excursion. Well worth the money and time.

A bus picked us up at the ship and took us to the train. The train trip was very interesting with good commentary. On the way back we were on a bus. Also very good because the driver gave information on the points we passed and stopped a couple of times for us to take pictures. At the “Welcome to Alaska” sign she took pictures of all the passengers in front of the sign.
