Exploring this port town's coast by boat is ideal. Once aboard the Rubber-Inflated-Boat (RIB), you'll note the waterfront Art Nouveau buildings before powering through the fjords. An active seal colony and the bird colony at Runde island is seen prior to returning. Travelers seeking an authentic Nordic sea adventure find this tour thrilling.

Steeped in history, the port town of Alesund has been prominent since the 10th Century. Today, its commitment to build Art Nouveau structures is popular. Even so, the deep channels of sea water cutting through high cliffs creating a number of stunning fjords along its coast remains its big draw.

After boarding your high-powered RIB-boat, your licensed captain will provide safety gear and instructions. With your adrenaline pumping as you plane atop the sea, you'll soon reach the seal colony located near the Island of Runde. Depending on the season, many seals are present mating, playing, fishing, and of course, sleeping.

After enjoying the seal's antics, you'll motor to Runde, where a famous bird colony exists. With Rundebrandon mountain as the focal point, a vast number of birds including Puffins, Guillemots, Razorbills, and White-tailed Eagles are present. Hugging the coastline, you'll return to port refreshed with a thrilling dose of nature. Reserve your Nordic Sea Safari today.

5 StarsGreat ride!August 12, 2017

I loved the sea safari! We rode 14-foot waves down the fjord for 10 miles, thumping and roaring. My companions didn't care for it; they weren't expecting the jolting and such a long time in the boat. It was billed as an opportunity to take wildlife and bird pictures, which was nearly impossible. Because of the high seas we couldn't get close enough to the cliffs where the birds were, and we saw nothing else. I think you should bill it more as an extreme adventure ride rather than a wildlife viewing opportunity. That said, I LOVED it! The heck with the birds...

We had a terrific time in the boat and saw a lot of good birds. I recommend this excursion to others.

Staff was efficient and friendly. We say puffins, gannets, a white tailed eagle flying close, guillemots, cormorants, seals, and more. It was a terrific experience.
