Private Guestrow - Living in Clover

After a short drive from the pier, you will begin your journey in the summer estate gardens of Mecklenburg's dukes with your professional guide. Recreated from engravings, one feels transported back into the 16th century, seemingly rubbing elbows with royalty while strolling along the pruned hedges. From the gardens, you will continue with a guided tour of the palace itself. The mansion, built in 1589, now serves as a museum of North German and contemporary art. An additional exhibit of Medieval weaponry serves as a reminder of the palace's history as a hunting estate.

Continuing on, you will view the Gothic cathedral and the "Hovering Angel" by Ernst Barlach. The sculpture was recast in 1952 after being destroyed by the national socialists for being depraved art. It now serves as a memorial for the victims of World War I and World War II.

On the way back to the pier, you will stop at the small village of Kuhs for a traditional German snack of grilled bratwurst sausage, sauerkraut and beer.
