Alaska Shore Excursions and Tours
Alaska Shore Excursions
Alaska is one of the most awe-inspiring places on earth.
The largest state in the United States, Alaska is home to 17 of the 20 highest peaks in North America, more than 100,000 glaciers, 3 million lakes, 6,640 miles of coastline, 33,904 miles of shoreline, and more than 70 potentially active volcanoes. From Alaska's majestic beauty to its staggering array of wildlife, it is truly a unique destination.
Sailing on a cruise ship is just the beginning of any Alaskan Adventure. The absolute magnificence and splendor of Alaska can only be fully realized by experiencing an Alaska shore excursion. Whether it's by air, land or sea, exploring the wonders of Alaska cruise excursions will be a once in a lifetime experience.
At Shore Excursions Group, we offer an extensive selection of exceptional Alaska cruise excursions providing our customers with reasonably-priced opportunities to experience the best of Alaska. We've even made it easier for you to design your Alaska shore excursion itinerary by creating a selection of Multi-Port Packages that include three of our most popular excursion tours at a discounted price.
We offer three different varieties of Alaska shore tour packages - value, active and adventure - tailored to your personal travel style. Or feel free to create your own itinerary by choosing individual Alaska cruise excursions for each port that you visit based on your specific interests and budget.
On one of our Juneau shore excursions, take a float trip on spectacular, glacier-studded Mendenhall Lake, passing by the world famous 2.5 mile-wide Mendenhall Glacier or experience a whale watching cruise and see a humpback whale up close. Other Juneau shore excursion trips include a city tour or gold panning adventure where you can relive Juneau's gold rush history by panning for gold and then enjoying a delicious salmon bake at Salmon Creek.
In Ketchikan the spectacular Misty Fjords Flight seeing Tour is a must-see experience that will provide a lifetime of memories. The Misty Fjords National Monument is a 2.3-million acre piece of pristine wilderness that must be viewed by floatplane; it is the only way to truly take in its majesty - soaring cliffs, saw-tooth ridges blanketed in trademark mists, sky-blue lakes, endless waterfalls, icy saltwater fjords and miles of glacier-carved gorges. As part of our Saxman Native Village and Ketchikan City tour visit the world's largest standing collection of totem poles and hear the legends and stories of how and why they were made.
In Skagway our Helicopter Dog Sledding Adventure day excursion begins with a helicopter ride to a glacier dog sledding camp where you will share this adventure with 80 Alaskan huskies and hear unique personal accounts of the Iditarod, back country experiences and have an opportunity to ask questions. Feel the excitement as the team is hooked up, then you're off! Also from Skagway we offer many excursions into the Yukon territories including horseback riding and dog mushing adventures. Or enjoy an exciting raft trip down the Chilkat River through the famous Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve, the world's largest concentration of Bald Eagles in North America.
For our active customers we offer a variety of hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing and zip lining cruise ship excursions in most of our Alaskan ports. For our fishing enthusiasts we have many options including salmon fishing, Halibut fishing, skiff crabbing, skiff fishing, fly fishing, or spin fishing. Our fishing shore excursions are offered in Juneau, Ketchikan and Sitka.

"This was an amazing, once in a lifetime experience for us. Yes its expensive, but so worth it to ride in a helicopter, land on a glacier, and experience a glacier up close as you walk on it. I felt really safe with our pilot and he was pretty knowledgeable about the area."

"This by far was my favorite excursion on our 7 day cruise to Alaska. Our guides Amber and Vicki are two of the most pleasant gals you will ever meet.Once we peddled into the middle of the cove while we waited for the others to mount their sea cycles,my blood pressure immediately dropped while we gently bobbed in the water, taking in the scenery...heck we were in the scenery. We even got to see an eagle pluck a salmon out of the water and take off into the trees. You won't regret spending a couple of hours of historical and fact filled commentary of the area, while having a little fun and exercise in the process and having a tasty snack in the end.Thank you Brent and Jake for your assistance."

"The guide is exceptional. The wildlife is unsurpassed. These 2 come together in perfection on this excursion. I highly recommend. I did this a year ago with my daughter and I loved it so much I came back! We are perhaps repeating a third next year with our son and grandkids!"

"The Juneau part of the trip is fun enough in that you get a quick overview ride around the city with enough time after the bus tour to prowl around the gift shops some. The more spectacular part, though, is the ride out to the Mendenhall Glacier. You can see plenty from the Visitor Center area if you want to spent more time there with the film, exhibits, etc. However, if you're up for a brisk walk, hike (flat ground) out to the waterfall although it will take you most of the 40 min. alloted during the stop there to get out to the falls and back (if you don't mind getting your lower legs wet you can also walk out into the water a bit for an even more spectacular view of the falls but if that's your goal head straight for the trail and don't even go in the Visitor Center so you'll have time to get back). Our driver was very conscientious, though, about accounting for everyone and not leaving until we were all back on the bus."

"I am so glad we signed up through shore excursions. Because we were the only couple on our excursion! We had our own private tour without the high dollar expense. Our guides (Dana and Ashlyn) were awesome, and we got to take our time and really enjoy the scenery. We did see black bears, which was the cherry on top, and we would have enjoyed this even without the bears. Excellent trip!"

"The city tour of Ketchikan, Alaska was very pleasant and informative with the accompanying trip to the Saxman Native Village presenting a great understanding of the intentions and complexities of Native American totem poles, illustrated with lots of them on display. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and willing to take us to areas where we could more easily see eagles and bears. Overall, it was a very pleasant excursion."

"This package is expensive for us, but very much worth it. It covered all the bases in Alaska and provided some once in a lifetime experiences. How many people get to say they have drank pure ice cold water from a stream on a glacier??One warning, it's tricky to locate the helipad in Skagway when you are in a hurry, so try to print a map ahead of time, as there aren't signs directing you.?It was also really convenient to have all of the excursions lined up ahead of time and not have to think about it while on the cruise."

"Our 3 girls ages 20, 17 and 11 will remember this the rest of their lives. Of all our Alaska adventures, this topped the charts for them. The guides were experienced and knowledgeable, but made this a ton of fun! I was scared to death, and was even afraid I might have to turn back. (which i think is impossible anyway...) Drew and Jake set my mind at ease and made me comfortable. I was so proud of myself that I did it! The 10 ziplines and 2 suspension bridges are high adventure fun! Even though it was a drizzly day, we had an incredible experience, in large part thanks to our great guides!"
