This two-hour guided tour includes many of the sights in the Ketchikan area, photo stops, and time at Saxman Native Village. Enjoy the city tour aboard a San Francisco-style trolley or deluxe motor coach. You will travel past the rustic waterfront, boat harbors and the picturesque city park, before driving out of the town. A stop will be made for a brief introduction to a rain forest. See eagles fishing for salmon in front of Ketchikan's salmon canneries (May through June). See a salmon ladder and watch salmon spring from the rushing water enroute to the spawning grounds (July through September).
A photo stop will also be made at Herring Bay, a quaint area that takes you far away from the crowds and people. A small inlet cove that will allow sites and sounds of the beautiful wildlife that only Ketchikan can offer. During Salmon season, Black Bears, Eagles, Herons and Seals are often spotted in this area. Be sure to keep your eyes wandering and your cameras close! Your next stop will include a visit to Rainbow Falls. Immerse yourself in the beauty of a 100 foot waterfall surrounded by a rainforest. This hidden treasure is well known by the locals, but not by tourists.
At Saxman Native Village your guide will take you on a brief tour of the world's largest standing collection of totem poles. You will hear the legends and stories of these ancient majestic totem poles and learn how and why they were made. You will also make an exterior only visit to the outside of the Clan House where your guide will explain some of the many figures carved in its exterior. During free time, visit the Village Store and Artists Co-op where authentic arts and crafts are made by Saxman Natives. This tour does not include carving or native performances.
Once back in town, enjoy Historic Creek Street, This was Ketchikan's former busy red light district and is now home to the world-famous Dolly's House Museum. Guests can choose to either end the tour here (approximately 10 minutes walk from the cruise pier) or be returned to the pier. Your tour includes a ticket to go through Dolly's House Museum.
