The excitement begins as your guide picks you up at the port and takes you to the famous Altun Ha Mayan ruins, an extensive ancient Mayan city that was an important trading post. Along the way your guide will share interesting facts about Belizean history and culture, and point out the area's ecosystem.

Once at Altun Ha your guide will give you the history of the site, then you are on your own to explore the ruins! Climb one of the highest structures and be rewarded with beautiful views of the surrounding ruins and the Mayan rainforest. While here you can see the offering stone the Mayans used to petition their gods.

From there you will make your way over to the Belize Community Baboon Sanctuary where you will see Howler Monkeys, mistakenly named baboons by the first explorers who didn't know what Black Howler Monkeys were. Learn how the sanctuary got started and what it took to get the monkeys to trust humans. You'll scream with delight as the monkeys will come up so close you can touch them! Howlers are famous for their loud calls that can be heard up to 3 miles. Your 5.5 hour tour includes a delicious lunch of chicken, rice and beans and coleslaw or potato salad. This family-friendly experience is a must-do for animal and history lovers! Book now.
