Castelmola and Taormina

Once ashore in Giardini-Naxos you will be completely enamored with this beautiful port town located on Sicily Island's northeastern coast, in the Gulf of Catania (Mediterranean Sea). This charming corner of Sicily has grown from a sleepy fishing village to a bustling seaside resort.

Start your day from the port after being shown to your comfortable, air conditioned transportation and be introduced to your local, knowledgeable and professional tour guide. Your group is kept to a medium size and not crowded onto a large tour bus in order to provide you a more intimate and immersive experience. Your unique experience first takes you on a drive through the quaint, narrow streets while admiring the staggering views as soon you reach your first destination, Castelmola.

Situated on a rock at almost 500 meters above sea level, this small village rises above the Ionian Coast and Taormina as a fortress that keeps its treasures well preserved. During the one-hour stop here, admire and discover St. Antonio square with its panoramic view, Caffe S. Giorgio with its free sample of almond wine-liquor invented by the ancient owner Don Vincenzo Blandano, the souvenir shops and the Cathedral overlooking the towering Mt Etna. Take the opportunity during the short free time to climb the steps that lead to the ruins of an ancient castle from where you can have a complete view above the beautiful surrounding area.

Leaving Castelmola, continue for approximately 15 minutes to reach Taormina, the famous location known for its monumental heritage and position. Your guided walking tour starts from the southern entrance of the town, Porta Catania, upon where you will walk for approximately one hour along Corso Umberto between the old buildings, exclusive shops, and handicraft boutiques.

The Cathedral, the fountain of "Minotauro", the Middle gate, IX April Square, St Catherine Church, the Odeon, Palace Corvaja and Porta Messina are the most important attractions on a must see list, but not the only ones. At the end of the walk, enjoy discovering at your leisure the many other treasures of this majestic location such as the Greek/Roman Theatre and the Public Garden.

Once your tour has come to an end, you will return to Porta Catania, where you will say goodbye to this small part of Sicily and to all its wonders. Return to the port area with memories of an incredible day in Sicily you will reminisce about for years to come.
