Helsinki and Suomenlinna

There could be nothing better than the chance to tour one of the most beautiful cities in Finland on this half-day excursion while in Helsinki.

Your guided, cultural adventure of historical landmarks and monuments will begin after you have been greeted by your local, knowledgeable representative at the pier area. Set off to visit the Olympic Stadium, considered the largest stadium in the country, and the Sibelius Monument, a piece created by Eila Hiltunen dedicated to the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius.

You will then make your way to the Esplanade Park, the Old Market Hall, and the famous Market Square where local vendors display and sell fresh Finnish food and souvenirs. Make sure to get your camera ready to photograph the beauty of the Uspenski Orthodox Cathedral considered the main cathedral of the Orthodox Church of Finland, and the Senate Square, where you will be amazed by Carl Ludvig Engel's incredible architecture.

From there, you will hop on a ferry from the Helsinki Market Square to beautiful Suomenlinna. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Suomenlinna is one of the world's most massive sea fortresses that sprawls across a series of six small islands. Here you will learn about the site's eventful history and visit some of Suomenlinna's main attractions, like King's Gate, Suomenlinna Church, Jetty Barracks, and the Great Courtyard.

Upon completion of this enriching and remarkable journey, your guide will return you to the Helsinki Market Square, so you can continue to take in the beauty of this incredible city on your own. The return to your ship and the pier area will be on your own at your leisure.
