North Island Tour

Discover Martinique for its diverse culinary offerings in addition to its breathtaking scenery and beaches! This tour offers, a guided tour of the Balata Church and the Saint-Pierre Ruins.

Enjoy a special experience at a rum distillery and beach break. Both of the cruise ship docks are close to the meeting location for our Martinique excursion. You will be met by your English-speaking shore tour guide. Following check-in and a briefing on your day, board your cozy, air-conditioned vehicle (a van or minibus with room for up to 18 passengers). Enjoy the Caribbean the coast ride.

As you board your vehicle and travel to the Sacred Heart Church, also known as Balata Church, to see the magnificent sight of the tropical foliage combined with this magnificent structure. This church was constructed in 1924 and is an exact replica of the Sacre Coeur de Montmartre in Paris. It was constructed at a scale of 1/5th of the original. According to popular belief, this church was constructed to serve as a gathering place for Catholics at the expanding Fort de France following the 1902 destruction of St. Pierre by the Mont Pelee eruption. The church is also devoted in honor of those lost in World War I.

The Alma River will be the next , which is where you may observe a vibrant tropical rainforest. The Saut Gendarme Waterfalls got their name because police officers and their horses would rest here. French for mounted police is gendarme. The waterfall is accessible via a very short and simple climb, and once you get there, the crystal waters of the waterfall as well as the tropical forest will charm you.

The DEPAZ Rum distillery in Saint-Pierre is the next stop. In addition to being a distillery, it is also one of the oldest settlements in Martinique, complete with a master's residence, acres of sugar cane, and all the production buildings required for the distilling process. You will get a taste and the chance to buy a bottle of your favorite one while on this picturesque and historic walk!

Discover the ruins of Sain Pierre. Destroyed by the volcano and only partially reconstructed. Here, you'll get the chance to take some photos. As you pass by, you will be able to take in the landscape and the spectacular Mount Pelee. At this time, you will be at Saint Pierre, the "Little Paris of the Antilles," at the base of the volcano.

The Carbet Beach, a large beach with calm waves, clear visibility, and black sand, will be our next stop. You can unwind by gazing out towards the sea or Mount Pelee, or you could swim a little to energize yourself.
