Two Hour Nature Safari

This is a great tour option for anyone with a shorter time in port to explore this beautiful area. Grab your camera and get ready to score some impressive shots from the top of Banks Peninsula as you head toward the working sheep farm and penguin colony habitat at Pohatu/Flea Bay.

Hop in your 4-wheel drive van for a comfortable ride and enjoy photo stops while en route. You will view Akaroa harbor in its entirety, standing on a crater rim at the 700-meter viewpoint. Learn about the history of this beautiful landscape by your local guides who have lived here for up to five generations.

Visit Pohatu Bay on the outer coast, be in awe of the panoramic views all the way down to the water, and then continue to a working sheep farm and a penguin colony.

This is a fantastic chance to interact with the friendly pet sheep which you can feed by hand for a real kiwi experience.

The excitement continues as you monitor penguin nesting boxes and learn of the conservation work being conducted in the largest colony of little penguins on mainland New Zealand. See penguins and their chicks up close and personal on their nests (the season is August to mid-February). Your knowledgeable guides will also point out other native birds and wildlife as you go along and possibly encounter them.

If you love animals and love photographing gorgeous scenery, this is the tour for you! Book now to experience New Zealand nature at its finest.
