Whale watching & salmon bake

This was a good trip. The whale watching boat was not ideal for comfort, but turned out fine. We saw an amazing group of whales feeding. Very exciting. The salmon bake was delightful. Beautiful setting. Definitely a highlight.

Had a Whale of a time
July 29, 2023
The Captain & Guide were so knowledgeable and friendly. We were guided to the perfect spot to see the whales, including a seldom seen session of “bubble feeding”. I really enjoyed the commentary, especially the information about how the tour was taking conservation steps and ensuring the whales were not disturbed by our presence. The Salmon Bake was delish & served the best Chowder I’ve ever tasted.

Great Tour and Dinner
July 18, 2023
The tour was well organized, with a knowledgeable naturalist who described whale and sea lion behavior clearly and good-naturedly.
The boat's captain did a good job of spotting whales and keeping safe and proper distance from the animals.
We saw 10-12 different hump-back whales and several sea lions - it was a great excursion.

Whale Watching and Salmon Bake Combo
July 10, 2023
This was the very first excursion we ever booked that was not directly through the cruise line and we could not have been more satisfied! The directions on where to meet the excursion representative were spot on, the whale watching exceeded expectations as they were very active that day and the food at the Salmon Bake was plentiful and outstanding! In addition, the location of the Salmon Bake was so pretty with a breathtaking natural waterfall, original mining cave, opportunity to pan for gold, live music, campfire and s’mores-making! We highly recommend this tour!

Loved it!!!
June 28, 2023
This was a great excursion! Significant discount from cruise ship prices and and all around awesome experience. Very knowledgable and informed guides who went out of their way to make sure we saw several humpbacks AND a pod of orcas (not so common). We felt safe, comfortable and warm on the ship. Salmon Bake was excellent too, the warmest, coziest, more beautiful outdoor creek setting serving up fresh salmon with all the fixings!!! Even the transportation to and from was "spot on", very diligent in making sure where knew where to go and very attentive about getting us back in time. No detail ignored here!!!

Great Day
September 07, 2022
It's a short bus ride from the pier to the meeting location. We found the organizer very quickly. We boarded a bus with only one other couple to head out to the bay. After a short intro, we set out. There were about 30 people total. We found a spot others had seen whales. We weren't disappointed. Several sightings. We then went to another location and saw several more whales.
After returning, we met our van again and figured out that the 4 people in the van had the Salmon Bake also. The Salmon Bake restaurant was a whole lot of fun as it is outdoors, and it was raining. Don't read that as a problem. The seating area is covered as well as the buffet table. The food was very good, and the salmon was excellent. A very fun, unique meal. This was a very good day, and I would highly recommend it.

Cloudy and rainy
October 11, 2019
I enjoyed this excursion the most. It was cold but my husband and I were prepared. The guide and boat driver were very knowledgeable. We have a few sightings of whales and sea lions but we were pleased! The bake was very pretty and food was good. I wasn't aware of a mama bear with her 3 cubs right behind the fire pit until I heard men chasing them away but I was able to take a video.

Great opportunity to see wildlife!
September 09, 2019
My 6-year-old son and I had a wonderful time on the boat tour. We saw humpbacks, orcas (apparently a fairly unusual treat), sea lions, and porpoises. My 10-year-old daughter was scared during the first half of the boat ride, as it is a propulsion jet boat and goes quite fast. She did finally calm down once we saw the sea lions and porpoises. The captain and naturalist were very friendly and informative.
The meeting place was a bit hectic, as tons of tour groups were all meeting at the same time and place, and it is difficult to tell which group you are supposed to be with. I had to ask around to find my group. Our van driver was very friendly.
The salmon bake was delicious and the camp was beautiful. There are marshmallows and campfires available for after dinner. There is a free shuttle that will take you from the salmon bake back to either your ship or downtown. We had a great time, and the price was very reasonable compared to comparable excursions available through Norwegian.

We had a great time on our whale watching excursion & the food at the Salmon back was very good. The girls that brought us out on the boat did a very good job. We got to see a pod of Orcas & Humpback whales I don't think we could of asked for anything more.

Excellent guides, tour done very well, info was easy to grasp. We saw many groups and pairs of whales rolling, jumping, and bubble netting. Could not have been a better time. Salmon dinner however was a dull snooze.

Best Salmon Ever!!!
August 07, 2019
Whale watching was amazing! The size of the boat had enough room for me to walk around without feeling too cramped! We saw whales jumping out of water, a couple of sea lions and an EAGLE! It was the first Bald Eagle I had ever seen. As far as the salmon bake, seriously, the best grilled salmon over an open wood fire grill we've ever had! They had this very flavorful brown sugar butter glaze that went on top of the salmon that was sooooo good!

October 27, 2018
The guide and boat captain were both engaging the entire cruise. We saw 7 humpback whales and 6 sea lions! I generally do not care for salmon but cooked over a wood fired grill and then smothered with the maple glaze was so good I went back for seconds! The waterfall is a must photo opportunity.

Cheaper from the ship
September 19, 2018
I had a great time on this excursion with Captain Terry and Naturalist Megan. We did see several whales and sea lions. The boat held about 35-40 people and was very smooth. You sit indoors with big windows and a back deck for outdoor viewing. We had beautiful weather, so that made it better than it might have been. We could have booked the same excursion for less money from the Celebrity ship, though.

Whale Watching/Salmon Bake
September 10, 2018
The boat captain was excellent at predicting where the whales resurfaced, he turned the boat so both sides received excellent views/pictures and he stayed a little longer since we had great views around our time to leave. The environmental specialist explained what we were seeing and how whales live, swim, eat, etc. She genuinely enjoyed the watching as much as all the passengers. The food and atmosphere at the salmon bake were exceptional and I recommend taking time to walk around and enjoy the nature that surrounds you. It’s extremely appreciative we can get transportation “when we were ready to leave” and that we weren’t restricted to our time to enjoy! By far, one of our favorite excursions!

Trip to Juneau
August 27, 2018
Terry and Katie provided an excellent whale watching excursion. Both were very personable and knowledgable. We caught sight of only one whale during our trip, but being on other whale watch trips, I know it can be hit or miss. Nevertheless, seeing the tail of that humpback was thrilling! The views this day were truly spectacular. No rain, blue skies, mountain tops covered in snow surround by the lush rainforests of the islands. The boat we we rode on didn’t mess around either. It was fast and got us from spot to spot in a flash.
The Salmon Bake was unexpectedly down home. Seated in a beautiful backwoods setting with folk music coming from Vicky, we entered a lush green paradise. The food was down home and tasty. The salmon bake was nice and smokey. Once you enjoyed you meal, you could take a short stroll down a path to a beautiful water fall were you could try your hand at panning for gold.
I definitely would recommend this trip. It’s quick with lots to see.

There was only 11 people in boat and saw 4 different whales and also saw sea lions. Transport vehicle takes you to Salmon Bake - very good and then back to ship.

We had a wonderful time on our excursion. Our group of 10 saw many, many whales. Tails, breaching and bubble feeding were observed to our delight. Our captain and first mate were both fun and informative. After our whale watching, we were picked up and taken to the Gold Creek Salmon Bake. The food was plentiful and very good.
